Fed up with Easy Jet

How miffed am I  I can't believe Easy Jet. I thought they were supposed to be a budget airline yet my drip to Spain over Christmas to visit my sister for a week is going to cost me over £250. I'm so annoyed. It's bad enough that Easy Jet are the only airline that fly direct to Asturias but sometimes it really gets me how much they charge just to fly to Spain. I mean come on, we're not exactly talking a million miles away now are we, so why are the prices so high. It's not like´I'm booking at the last minute.
Is there anybody else out there having the same problems.

Well go by a different route then! There is a direct ferry service to Spain from Plymouth, and Spanish trains are comfortable and very affordable. Or take the Eurostar to Paris, and then the ultra-luxurious train-hotel over night, again at a very reasonable price.0

That sounds a bit steep. I think they have got you basically, with there being no competition !. They are Bah Humbugs.... you would think airlines would drop prices a bit at christmas as a lot of people visit family & friends abroad.
I booked last week for Barcelona (to stay with his son)for me & hubby its only for the 24th -28th with Thomsonfly & it cost £85 for the two return tickets. I thought this was not bad.
Anyway hope you enjoy your christmas with your sister, and don't let Easyjet spoil your fun.

Its all part of the no-frill airlines blackout periods. Of course, a lot of people want to fly at the same time as you and prices tend to be much steeper, particularly as EZ are the only carrier offering direct flights there.
I'm finding that a lot of the 'no-frills' carriers can be quite expensive once you've added in all their charges, such as bags, credit card fees etc. Ryanair is a good example. A friend paid over £400 return for a flight to Bratislava! I could have wept!! Although it was short notice, BA were doing deals to nearby Vienna for over £200 less! I know who I'd rather fly with!
Getting back to Asturias. I've had a quick look at flights to OVD over the Christmas period. If you are happy to fly from Heathrow or Gatwick, and change at either Barcelona or Madrid - prices were coming up around the £175 mark, flying with BA and Iberia. That was on https://www.opodo.co.uk.'Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery'0 -
In March they are asking nearly GBP700 to go to Nice. They do not have a cap on fares and should be called a 'no frills' airline, not 'Budget' or 'low cost' because they aren't.

I did think about flying from Heathrow or even Gatwick as I´ve done it before, but it's the hassle of changing. If you've ever flown via Madrid you'll know what i mean by this "it's worse then Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on a good day". And as for Barcelona, I got stranded there once at the airport overnight on my own, the staff at the airport were quite happy to leave me on my own in the airport with just myself for company because i couldn't afford a hotel overnight (long story, the British Airways check-in clerk at Heathrow should have given us boarding tickets for boarding on Iberia airways from Barcelona when we were checking in at Heathrow but she somehow missed that). My moto "barcelona, never again". So you see my deleima.
Good news though, since writing my thread, my sister has since told me she might come to me for Christmas instead, at the same time as guess what, it's cheaper for her to come to me with Easy Jet at exactly the same time. How bazaar is that. Need I say more.
Thanks to everyone who replied. This was only my second Thread and I'm loving loving it.0 -

You mean that it is cheap to fly from a warm sunny Spain to a cold damp UK for Christmas.
Good grief, I never would have guessed.0 -
Easyjet - and Ryanair, etc - are low COSTS airlines, not low COST airlines.
It's cheap for them to fly a plane from a to b and sometimes they pass on those savings to you. Other times they stiff you for everything they can get from you
As for If you've ever flown via Madrid you'll know what i mean by this "it's worse then Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on a good day", you obviously haven't flown to Madrid in recent years and into the Stirling Prize winning T4. You'd arrive at T4S and normally will cross to T4N by the shuttle service.
It's as easy as transferring between terminals at Gatwick0 -
BTW BA and Iberia use Madrid T4, easyJet doesn't.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
