Tesco Deliveries backlogged

Tesco direct is delivered by home couriers to the store0

Now I understand Tesco have a backlog. I understand that they cant guarantee delivery before Christmas. Why not just say that instead of refusing to take orders.
I was looking for a new TV. Dont really care if I get it before Christmas or not. I wanted to order it before Christmas to save money. Sony have an offer where they will give you back your VAT if you buy before Christmas. The Tesco price was a lot less than Currys, Comet, etc. Cheaper price combined with the VAT offer and other cashbacks would have saved me well over £100. A lot more. I think thats relevant to a money saving forum.
Thanks to their decision to take no more orders (forget any delivery problems) I cant make the same savings. Of course I'm not happy.0 -
Well get ready to be a lot more annoyed.Am pretty annoyed right now.
I placed an order on the 2nd of December which should have arrived in store on the 4th. The order hasn't arrived.
I've been waiting since the 9th for them to get back to me with more information.
According to their website Tesco can't even keep up with the number of complaints and queries about missing orders let alone deliver them.0 -
I too have had tesco direct orders delayed due to the bad weather, but had a call today to advise they are in store for collection - which I am quite happy with especially since they have kept me informed by text and phone.:j
However have just gone on to order something else got to checkout screen and find this message:
We apologise for any inconvenience, but unfortunately we are currently unable to take any new orders in Scotland & the Scottish Isles. This is due to the adverse weather conditions causing a build up of orders
They are the only online company I have come across who are not accepting orders for Scotland! It snowed,it caused chaos,we are getting over it and Tesco need to get a grip. They got the whole big exchange promo timing all wrong, clashing with the change of rules on their rewards scheme, and Christmas shopping peak - lucky for them they have the snow excuse to fall back on? - just not good enough.

just look at all the companies that are having problems.."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
We had really bad snow here but there's barely anything to be seen now and the roads are clear.
But isn't the current forecast saying that there is going to be further heavy snowfall and serious disruption again by the end of the week ?
So it sounds sensible to me to spend the next few days clearing the backlog from the last period of bad weather and not comitting to taking any more orders, rather than to take new orders that you aren't confident you are going to be able to deliver in the near future.0 -
I think given the backlog they must have they are probably making the right decision if they simply cannot logistically take more orders whilst trying to get out existing ones. If the next forecast of snow is right then they are just going to be put in the same position again, of course it is unfortunate for people who want to place orders but Tesco can hardly be held responsible for the weather.
I placed my order on the 2nd due for delivery on the 6th, it finally turned up on the 11th. A lady from Tesco rang me yesterday (the 12th) to tell me my order was delayed indefinitely and probably wouldn't arrive until January, I told her it had arrived the day before and all she could say was "you're one of the lucky ones"."Organic!! I grew up on Angel Delight..." - Dylan Moran0 -
The correct decision probably would have been to stop taking orders anywhere until they had cleared the backlog instead they have only stopped taking orders in Scotland.
I'm still waiting for an order placed on the 3rd of December to be delivered to Poole on the South Coast aside from meaningless assurances that I will get the order before Christmas they don't know where it is or when it will be delivered.0 -

I ordered about the same time and would be happy if someone could let me know where more order is currently located and the estimated delivery time i.e. do I cancel and go elsewhere.
All I get is vague promises and "It's the weather" but I have not had a single problem with any other item I have ordered and had delivered by other companies. Why just Tesco?0 -
I called today for an update and was told that the order was ready in store on Saturday (which is not what the told me on Saturday!). Then why the **** didn't they ring me like they promised?
Not only that, I got to the store at 9:30pm to find out that you can only collect up until 8pm! !!!!!!! I wasn't even back home by 8pm. Apparently, "the computer goes off" and "there's no way to book out" my items from behind a locked door after 8pm. I thought that Little Britain was supposed to be a parody. How on earth is "Computer Says No" a satisfactory response in this day and age?
Every little helps, my !!!!!. What a shower of w&^£*rs.0 -
I rang the store today (2 weeks after it was due to arrive) but no answer, so called Tesco Direct Customer Service (a laughable title) to be told that it is in store but probably not unpacked as no indicatation on system and probably why I have not received notification message from store.
8pm tonight I receive an answer message on my mobile from the store to say that it still has not turned up and that they suggest cancelling the order and taking one off the shelf instead.
Now, which one is correct - both can't be?
Do not want to cancel as I have 6months payment free if ordered through Tesco Direct, so they will need to honor this if I get one instore. Why that can't just give me one off the shelf is beyond me!!!!
Going to be an interesting call tomorrow.0
