Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

What am I doing up at silly o'clock? DD has a raging temp and this is our second nocturnal visit so far (thought that just after midnight was a wee bit early for the daily :rotfl:)
So plans for today? Sleeping, sleeping and more sleeping :o Got a kids party to take DS to and me and H were supposed to be going out tonight just the two of us but can't see that happening now <sigh>

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

Morning Bitsy & all who cross/follow

i`ve been browsing for the last hour or so as i can`t seem to nod back off, i woke at 245 am with a blocked nose and a sore throat as i`d been asleep with my mouth open :o my beak is now streaming so i have a stinker of a cold. Just had a few cuppas and some elderberry syrup followed by elderberry tea so the effects of that should kick in shortly - so glad that i managed to find the time to make it all this year.

Today will be spent catching up on the housework, i didn`t get the bathroom scrubbed yesterday as we had unexpected guests so it only had a quick clean. I`ll do all the upstairs today and then the kitchen.

Some cooking and baking to be done this afternoon and i also need to clean out the fridge, there always seems to be lots of bottles and jars opened which get pushed to the back so i`ll sort those out too.

The washing machine had almost finished so i`ll be emptying that shortly along with the dishwasher.

Hope that DD is better soon Bitsy, think we will all need a nap to catch up this afternoon :D

Sounds very windy outside  hope that some more of the snow has melted by the time that i venture out with the woofaloes, some more seems to be forecast next week so i hope that the forecast is wrong!

Right i`m off for some more tea, hope i start to feel human later or i won`t get everything done today.

Have a Super Saturday peeps

Have you tryed cutting up some lemons in a jug of hot water and then adding some honey leave it to stand a while and then drink as you need it?

Also another good one but a bit smally is chop an onion up in a dish and then put sugar ontop of it. Cover and leave to stand over night (or all day long) Then drink the syup that comes off?

I hope taht you both feel better soon

 at the onion syrup! I have tried honey and lemon but not really a fan. I prefer steaming and Vicks Vapour rub :D
I shall survive, feel worse due to lack of sleep TBH.

OMG - i just poured elderberry syrup into the washing machine dosing ball :eek::o:o

What a waste, can`t be doing with feeling this tired already - that means that i shall be far worse than normal as the day goes on :rotfl:
(a couple of days ago i caught myself putting the freshly boiled kettle into the fridge):o

Well i`ve got dogfood in the slowcooker using some mince that i found in the back of the fridge and some sausages in the remoska so not all bad - oh and i`ve just cleared out one of the petfood cupboards. Onwards and upwards :D

Halight - Thanks for the onion idea, not sure whether to try it or not :D it sounds like something that my Dad would do - thats a compliment - my dad is great.:D

Bitsy - Didn`t realise that you were all suffering with the same things, horrid isn`t it - i do like your way of thinking though and i shall remember it throughout the day, the "get it out of the way before Christmas" way of thinking makes me feel more positive already so thanks for that :T

Heres to all of us and any other poorlies on a swift road to recovery!

    Morning :santa2:

This is all wrong. I always put the decs up 2 saturdays before Christmas, but my kitchen is in my lounge and I can just about get to the sofa. I'll have to rush to get it done on monday afternoon.

L and A turned up last night to drop their kit off. Asked how I was doing with the bricks, and I started wailing "I can't cope, it's not going to be ready for you, the paint WILL NOT shift, I'm moving to a hotel please ring me when it's all over" :rotfl: They took pity on me and gave me a hand. I couldn't even make them a cuppa, I'd lost the kettle - I located it late last night so will keep them supplied with tea all day today :D

There's not much we can do today, other than stay out of the way of L and A. We have some rubbish to take down the tip, and that's it.

Bitsy and Sunny, wrap up warm, drink plenty of hot drinks and spend as much time on the sofa as you can (there are some very cheesy Christmas films on Movies 24 - renamed Christmas 24 during december - just sit and watch :D). Tru's orders :D

    Morning all

Wow everyones up early for the weekend, think my body clock is just all out of sync and the minute I wake up my brain goes into overdrive about everything I need to get done.

Plans for today are to go and get a couple more Christmas cards and gift bags and wrap the few presents I need to wrap, I defrosted some mince and am not planning to use it as we had something else instead so I am going to make some bolognaise sauce and freeze it in batches. Did some baking yesterday but need to make more Shrewbury biscuits- DS's favourites.

Hope everyone who is poorly gets well soon and have a great day :)

    Morning all
Thanks for the Christmas song, Tru
Up bright & early here, well early anyway, it's still pitch black outside. There was work being carried out on the railway lines nearby so it was quite noisy, but it finished at 6 so the trains can start running now.
It's too early for breakfast so I've fed the fish & made a cuppa, hubby's still asleep, he's not well so I'll leave him to sleep.
Plans for today include putting up the Christmas tree & then this evening going over to meet the new fosterchildren, so they know me if I'm needed to babysit. They are 7 months, 2 years & 4 Years, DD is having a ball & absolutely loving it, though she has to take a bodyguard with her when she takes the oldest to school because there are 'family issues', still they break up soon.
    Keep safe & warm everyone.
    Hugs Hester
