They quoted me the same price for what I pay for a 15k policy with Direct Line, they are certainly not cheap!
I may add that I have no points or accidents.0 -
My Quinn renewal premium was about £800, Swiftcover was about £600. Second Lowest was Admiral at £520. Insurethebox was £480, so they were the lowest, but not by much.
Any way, they all try to get you to tick the wrong box so they can sell you to Sumalian pirates, so I just try to tick the right boxes when I spot them.
If they are on the level, I could get a lower premium next year, from the driving score, on top of the NCB. Fingers crossed. They could say I was a speed demon, and bump up the premium next year, but that just means I switch insurers.
Besides, I get a free tracker. It's just a shame that it's deactivated if I switch.0 -
It wont be deactivated unless you get them to remove it, Still collecting data about you. And any future owner.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

It will get deactivated as soon as you cancel only for the reason, for the Box to send data it needs a live active sim!
Are you that interesting that an insurance company is going to pay to look at your driving style? After you have cancelled your insurance and are no longer giving them your monthly installment.
Banks, insurance are all about money not checking how many times you pop to Asda or the Gym!
Now the wife on the other hand may be interested!0 -

I disagree with the lower part of your post - you only need to look at Tesco's Clubcard scheme to see how valuable data is.0 -
Driving style is one thing but as Kilty mentioned YOUR DATA is worth money. The supermarkets dont give you
points and rewards for nothing. It saves them a fortune doing research.
They know when where & how you shop.

The tracker isn't working!
Got a call last week, told me they are not getting data from my Clearbox. Made an appointment for Wednesday 26th January. And then someone else called up, saying he's from Insurethebox, and that he wanted to explain something, so I interrupted him and said the appointment has been made. Oh, that's alright then.
Got a text to say I have an afternoon appointment.
Wesdnesday 26th, girl calls up to cancel the appointment, engineer can't make it! Now have an appointment for 2nd February. New girl, just started, apparently.0 -
I've had an insurethebox policy since late November 2010. Going fine so far, managed to achieve 190 out of 200 bonus miles for my first two months, so fingers crossed it'll mean big savings next year.
I'm 18, so it was still a ridiculous amount of money for this first year. None the less, much cheaper than anywhere else I could find, would definitely recommend.
I had an "incident" when having my box fitted. I originally had a date, but was contacted to inform me that the engineer couldn't make it, and was given a later date. Then, the engineer turned up. I was in, so fortunately I could get it installed their and then. I thought that was an end of it, but then on the rescheduled date, another engineer turned up. Showed him the receipt I had got from the first guy, and he wasn't happy with his boss.0 -

The engineer turned up on 2nd February.
Tested it, says it's OK.
4th February, girl calls up, says the box still isn't working,
and can they send another engineer.
I said why bother making an appointment, with text confirmation after, if all they do is cancel the appointment on the day.
So far
====
December 18th appointment, confirmed by text, then cancelled on the 18th.
Jan 5th appointment, no text confirmation to say morning or afternoon, the engineer didn't even call, just turned up in the afternoon.
Jan 26th appointment, text confirmation, cancelled on 26th. Made appointment for 2nd Feb.
Feb 2nd appointment, no text confirmation, the engineer rang the door bell at 07:35.
Feb 4th. I said I was busy, so if the engineer could get me on the phone, then he can come. The engineer called and left a message on voice mail, which I didn't see, and turned up just as I was rushing out again! So I delayed going out to let him do it. Replaced the Clearbox. Let's see what happens next
They claim to test the box every time, and that the central computer can see data from the Clearbox through the satellite link, so the test is obviously meaningless.0
