Hello forum . First post

Ok I received an email early last week stating my broadband with AOL was increasing to £19.99 . I have been with them for many years paying £14.99 ( Im well out of contract ) . On the day of receiving the email i have asked to leave and for them to issue a MAC code which they have failed to do now after 2 telephone calls and numerous emails . I have now reported them to the ispa . Lets see where it goes

Ok once i get the mac code i looking at joining sky . Sky and TalkTalk are the only llu providers in my are of Stourport ( WMSTU ) .

My question is though , i don't want to alter the line rental from BT as i don't pay for this somebody else does in the household so can i have sky llu broadband without line rental ? Also what is sky talk and how does this work as i have looked on sky's website and cannot find much information about this . Im asking as i only pay for the broadband again someone else pays for call cost . Ideally i want the broadband to remain the same cost as i was already paying £14.99

Thanks for your help

I too have been with AOL for over 10 years. I pay £12.99 and was horrified that "as a result of the VAT increase" my subscription was going up to £19.99. Yes, I thoght VAT increase was 2.5%!!
I called and was told that the letter had just been sent to all customers regardless. The chap I spoke to said my subscription would not rise this much but unsure of actual rise until 1 Jan. You may want to check this out further.

Sky Unlimited broadband is £12.50 for Sky subscribers (£15 if you are not), if you take Talk (i.e their phone service) its £7.50.
You don't have to move your line rental to Sky, in fact I would not recommend it.

Totally different story to what i was told . I was told that the rise to was to bring my price plan inline with the other price plans because aol have been taken over .

No it means you swap your calls over to Sky, you still pay line rental to BT.

Sky Talk does not require you to take your line rental from Sky. You have a choice.

Thanks, we could probably get it cheaper then?

Only recently signed up as we moved house and did the whole thing through sky, tv, broadband and phone, having never had sky before.

Its enough a month, but so far, touch wood, am very impressed with Sky and their service and the quality of what we have.
