daughter works 10 hours. thats £50 on minimum wage extra into the house a week.

    £50 that can buy alot
stay well clear of the ready meals for like '2 for £5' offer. remember people suppose to have three meals a day thats 6 meals for both of you, at £2.50 each you will not afford it.

buy a bag of spuds, some veg and then a variation between meat or a pie.

1 spud will fill up a thrid of a plate one single carrot and a handful of pea's can fill up another third of plate. and then meat.

it doesnt have to be a huge steak. ready sliced ham. luncheon meat, chicken roll. economy sausages, economy burgers. or even a asda basic cornish pasty/ porkpie will give the sinful fat to go alongside the healthy veg for a balanced diet.

you can even mix it up by at lunch have a jacket potato, and for dinner/tea have chips tomorrow have mash. and then the next day mix it all together into 'bubble and squeek'
and at most costing £1.10 a meal

and if you really feel like you have earned yourself a takeaway after eating the mondane food all week. remember it will probably set you back £10 a meal atleast so, spend cash on a more luxurious at home meal. lamb chops instead of luncheon meat or a kebab
roast some spuds instead of the takeaway chips. double up on the amount to really fill you up and it will still be cheaper then a takeaway, yet gives your body that 'mmmmmmm bisto' feeling of having something better then mondane food

i use to always have takaways spending £10 a night on 2 mouthfuls of grease. £1 on just a mouthful of cocoa cola. but if you learn to live within your means you will appreciate money soo much more.

Back in the 70s when I was poor (and working full time !) my first purchases every payday were tinned tomatoes, tinned beans, and marmite, then put aside enough cash to buy cheapest sliced loaf twice a week. That was how I made sure I always had food & yes sometimes I had to eat it cold.
