Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Oh! You better watch out,
You better not cry,
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why:

Santa Claus is coming to town! :xmassmile

Morning :santa2:
In my calendar - a Christmas tree.

NPM, have a wonderful day

No cleaning for me til monday :D The kitchen is almost empty. The units are in the garden, everything else is in the lounge. I can't reach the window to open and close the curtains, lol. We've removed the radiator and pipes, and re-routed the pipes for the sink. I'm waiting for the gas man to come and disconnect the hob, then I can remove the plaster behind it. The table won't go through the kitchen door, I'll have to get up early on saturday to move it into the garden.

All I can do today is shift one cupboard and clean out the animals. I might go out for a couple of hours (not sure where though), I'm so sick of looking at the mess :D

I'll nip into the pub and have a drink to celebrate NPM's wedding :D

Good Morning Tru and all to follow

NPM thinking off you today, enjoy every minute

Very cold here this morning, am the only one up at the moment and making the most of the peace and quiet.

My office is the warmest room in the house and I shall be spending most of the day in here. Am working quite a few hours on my 2nd job today so I can off the day off tomorrow which will then be spent Xmas shopping.

Popped to Morrisons yesterday and managed to get some bargain Xmas food bits.:j

Tuna and cheese pannini's for dinner tonight.

Have a great day & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x
  • Morning Tru & all who cross & follow.
Thankyou Tru for the Christmas song.
    Hope everything goes well NPM.
It took ages to scrape the car this morning to get hubby to the station. Packups have been made, breakfast eaten & fish fed, DW need unloading.
I went to WI last night for the Christmas meal, a buffet & am going again tonight & will have fish & chips.
The car was iced up at 10 last night when I left WI & was really thick this morning, still it's meant to get a little warmer today.
I need to finish my Yule cards today, the family ones have mistletoe on & the others have elves on.
    Stay safe & warm everyone.
    Hugs Hester

NPM - Lots of love to all of you and will be thikning of you xxxx

Morning all, had a lovely sleep last night - until 3am, when DS2 woke me with wet jama trousers! Still, he hadn't wet his bed, so it was a quick solution. Have his christmas play today which will be cute I'm sure. Have some catching up to do at work though - and wanted to let you all know what I heard on the BBC One Show last night. Weather lady Carol Kirkwood said that although temperatures are set to rise (after last nights very hard frost) over the weeked - mid next week they will fall and we'll see a return of the white stuff.

Just thought you should know so you can restock if needed. xx

OS - dinner will be leftovers from the fridge - possibly omlette or wraps or something quick. Have a great day all xxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all:D
Just been reading yesterdays thread you mad lot:p. thank you for all your wishes, although I must admit it made me teary:o. But no stripper:eek: thought Hester might have sorted one;)
Ceremony not till 4pm so a while to go yet, need to make sure the hotel puts fairy lights up properly etc. I am a bit annoyed with them really for a couple of reasons......firstly the ice on the path outside hotel is ridiculous..they havent put salt or grit down so when I got out the holding my dress my feet went from under me and I was so desperate to save the dress I landed heavily on my shins....two huge swollen bruises and very sore:cool:, dress isfine though;). If someone older falls though it will be nasty.
Then we are staying in honeymoon suite, they informed us late last night that they had a xmas party here and due to increased numbers moved the disco to room beneath ours:eek:. Offered to let us move rooms but Noah was settled so we said no. However 11pm the music cranked up to ridiculous levels...the room was shaking. OH went down to complain and they moved us to another room to sleep in for the night but it was very disruptive....Noah liked it tho as it had a great view of a crossroads with loads of traffic lights....leading to an hours rendition of " I like traffic lights "song:rotfl:
They said they are taking £60 off each nights stay as compensation....when you pay £185 for a special room you expect to be able to sleep:o
We are back in our special room now.
Starting to feel nervous a bit and emotional.
Bitsy lovely to read about DS. Made me cry when I read it...well done to him. Noah was in his yesterday but refused to come out as the white rabbit so his understudy did it:o
Right off for a bath and will check in later

    xxx

How very dare you, it weren't me. Cept for that bit there and this bit here. Oh and I have an explanation for that incident on the table.

But none of it was my fault.

    Mostly.

Morning everyone - anyone hungover after last night??

Firstly - hope everything is fantastic for NPM and her OH today and that Noah copes well.

Temperature in plus figures this morning so there's some hope of the snow melting, perhaps. Got a plasterer coming in to repair the damage to kitchen wall caused by long standing leak of internal drain pipe which eventually got fixed. And a redelivery of a recorded item though I'm not totally convinced it'll happen. Spoke to my postie yesterday about it so another perhaps!

Used my new DW last night. It didn't have a full load but I wanted to check that there weren't any leaks really - and there weren't. :j Really enjoying a clear kitchen, it makes me feel much better to not have dishes piling up on the workbenches and less guilty about not washing them. :o

Thanks for the wild weather warning. I'll take the car out early Saturday morning and do a big stock up though it's only fresh stuff needed. There's plenty of meat and veg in the freezer still. Friday night means OH brings in Chinese take-away and Dr Who on the TV so nothing to do tonight.

Can't get excited about Christmas, haven't done for years and years. We don't send cards, apart to parents and there's only 1 of those left between us :( so that's not difficult. As a Scot I find New Year is more worth celebrating

Hope everyone is doing well/is getting better.

    Morning all

NPM - Your special day has finally arrived, have a wonderful day, I'm sure it will be more memorable because of all the "challenges" the last few weeks have brought. It will always hold a special memory for you in years to come. Today is my DS1 birthday and we had the same situation with bad weather and trying to reach the hospital. I'll have a glass or 2 later to toast your happiness, and long and healthy life together, my warmest congratulations to you both x

Icy and very chilly here this morning. DH gone to work and brought my a cup of coffee in bed earlier and then we all got up to give DS1 his prezzies and cards, he was very pleased with his gifts. Hoping my parents, and sister, niece and nephew will come over later. Need to organise a birthday cake for later too, he would like a chocolate cake so not too difficult to organise.

Once boys off to school will crack on with housework, washing, drying and ironing, need to menu plan, write shopping list for tomorrow. Wrap all xmas gifts, write cards - so not too much planned for the day then!? Will hopefully be going to see relations at weekend to take their batch of prezzies as won't have time after this weekend.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
