I don't think she has done anything wrong. The form doesn't ask if you are in a relationship, have a partner living elsewhere just who lives with you. The OP was living in Germany at the time so didn't live with her.
AFAIK if you live in the UK and your partner/husband/wife is in the forces based abroad you are entitled to claim the 25% reduction in council tax if you are the only adult resident of the property.
You are wrong! I worked temporarily away and all my belongings were at hers, its was my main address, she accepted help from me and didnt mention that to the council. So why did she get benefits??????
Don't you need do state that someone helps you out moneywise???0 -
If she has recieved the money from you, surely any fraud department would notice this. To pay £500 a month of the arrears would be pretty hard if you had to apply for council tax benefit.
The benefit fraud hotline is out there for a reason. Clearly she needs to reported, either way she has stolen from not just me but everyone that uses this website.
I hope that you can move on OP but i would seriously think about giving the information to your council.

You are so wrong and your continued suggestion to him that he report her for fraud says a lot about you!
You are very rude, and making yourself look very silly.
bestpud's understanding is correct. Where a couple live in different countries, both incomes can be taken into account for benefit purposes.Gone ... or have I?0 -

In October every year the local councils send electoral registration forms to the head of every household which have to be completed to enable that years electoral register to be compiled and published on 1st December. It would seem that when filling in the form your ex gf took the view that you were not permanently resident and did not include you on the form. This would have resulted in you being removed rom the register. Only she will know the true reason. However, although the head of the household gets the form to fill in, it is really your responsibility to ensure you are on the register. If you find you have dropped off it is unfortunately your mistake as you failed to ensure you are on the register. You should rectify it by getting your name placed on the register for the address you now consider to be your permanent UK address. If you work part of the year out of the UK you are still entitled to be on the electoral to register and apply for postal votes when needed. If however you are living permanently outside the UK you should apply to become an overseas elector. You will find details on your local authority website.John0

Wereyou entitled to vote whilst you were temporary out of the country? Her telling people you were a lodger is fraud and should be reported. I assume you are no longer paying her rent? What would have happened if you had come back from your job early? Would you have expected to move back into her bedroom or occupy the spare room and not consider yourself a couple? If you contribute to household expenses then you are a couple!!MFW 2011 challenge - Aim: Overpay £414.26 a month/£5,000 a year.
