How come property !!!!!! always featured houses that the average FTB had no hope of buying?

Because its property !!!!!!. No-one wants to watch a show which is the Reader's Wives equivalent but with houses.

    Well, some might.

To give Sarah Beenie a bit of credit in the early series of her shows she made a point of stating

    Do your research
Make a budget and keep to it

She was also very scathing of people who only made a profit because of a rising market, pointing out more often than not they had really lost money as not doing anything would have made them more

Lots of LLL had modest houses, in fact most of the RlRlRl had one modest house or flat and one aspirational home.

Pity she was unable to follow her own advice on her own place...

Or maybe not, as we are all full of human frailty, and it makes for more interesting viewing if we see others falling victim to their own particular foibles.

As I've said before, 'Property Ladder' subjects were almost certainly chosen by personality profiling to make sure of the human interest arising from people's pig-headedness. In that sense it was deliberate car-crash TV.

Beeny has engineered her own car crash, though whether to make a good programme (or two, or three) is impossible to say. It's all been done on a not-for-profit basis, naturally.;);)

I think she's in some other pointless home decoration program, no idea what it's called.
Kirstie's Homemade Home on Ch4 now.

Pointless handicrafts galore & much droning about adding your own taste to your home.
