As if these programmes made any difference whatsoever. Unless there was ever advice that you should MEW as much as you fancy and always pay over the asking price.

The amount of vitriol aimed at these people is outstanding. Usual suspects though I see.

Seems to be the same old people who whinge about them in here.

Look at what football has become. Large media coverage has sold many a Man U shirt to many a 13 year old who's never been to Old Trafford, and probably never will. Without the media coverage, would as many shirts have been sold ? I`d say most likely not.

plenty of things are massively popular without a tv show - tv shows follow rather than create trends. they may magnify slightly but not longterm.

football has media coverage because it was very popular even before television came along.

internet forums create user generated content around things that people are interested in and then that magnifies virally. it's not all that different to telly. tv show makers are part of the general population, not something seperate to it.

with regards to football, surely there are many 'players' in its popularity inside and outside media (therefore showing its reflection of social trends). same with house prices. phil and kirsty are small (if well known) fish in a big pond overall.

Stella Artois is a massively popular lager. Do the makers advertise their lager to magnify their sales slightly or greatly ? If advertising Stella only generates a small increase in sales, why do they keep doing it ?

Right, so that's the debate over then. We won't mention it again, because it's a non-issue.

to create brand loyalty / encourage beer drinkers to their brand. i don't think the ads increase overall beer consumption necessarily. property is not a brand as such. it's more like a beer.

Agreed, it`s just like Stella Artois, reassuringly expensive.

They'd have to be drinking gallons of that, then.

I have an elderly aunt whose favourite saying is, "Well, we all do what we want to do!" whenever a story is told of someone mired in debt, or in trouble of some kind.

Though I don't always agree with this attitude, I can see its relevance here. Surely people choose what influences them, and if their research on purchasing a house runs to viewing just a few property !!!!!! programmes, then maybe they deserve it if the dream and the reality don't match.

What do the detractors think should happen? Should the TV Council Inspector visit the programme and put a Stop Notice on it under Wealth Safety legislation?

K&P appear to have been skilled & popular presenters in relation to LLx3. If the public like what they do next, they'll still be around five years hence. My own feeling is that they're one-trick ponies.
