Oh no Fredula!! Are yo u ok? What were you doing with the challenge money before? I think its ok to save for something like a reserve pot for October.
I know that I will need a lot of money for deposits etc in July/Aug/Sept so I'm using the £11K for that but i think thats fine
Yeah, well my job was only for a year anyway as it's an apprenticeship but they said they would take me on if they had enough money but they're losing over 40k next year...so I doubt they will have enough cash to take me on.
The challenge money is for my house deposit I'm saving up for! Yeah I'm definitely going to put most of my money towards a reserve pot for october. I'm hoping to save at least 3 months wages for when the time comes, just incase I find it hard to get another job.0 -
hope you have a job lined up by then fredula ,then you can go on holiday with the money you have saved .we are away again in 7 weeks so i'm going to try and not spend much till then . also going to contact nurse bank and start flinging some shifts in ,we are above tax credit limit now as hubby had a pay rise so , may as well start working extra hours and get housework organised back to fly lady although i think we would have to give away all our clothes for this place to be organised.
happy money making ellySo finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x0 -
Aww Fredula at least this means two things... 1- you've been enjoying your apprenticeship so far! 2- At least you have time to look for another job!!
I dont really have anything to add that I've done, few surveys and reviews here and there but not at payout!0 -
Good morning everybody,
Well this week I have sold another two items on ebay for a total of £10 and had a refund back from Eon of £69 so another £79 to add to my total.
Next week I am going to put my exercise bike on Gumtree as nobody uses it anymore and it is just taking to much room.
Going to sort out my daughters old phone and post that off to one of those phone sites.
Put a few more items on ebay.
Maybe try and do a car boot sale if the weather stays nice.
Clean my car out as really seriously thinking of getting rid of that as I dont use it that much and I can always use my daughters and hubbys.
So hopefully alot more money added to total.

Wow I love the idea of making 11K in 2011!...tho as we are 4 months through I may have to limit my sights a bit!
Am currently trying to OP/pay down my mortgage whilst interest rates are low (!) having bought at a time where my entire paycheck went on just the mortgage/bills I do not want to get into that scenario again! (when I say bills Im not including food/petrol in that so that was an interesting year or so!)
Reading between the lines and the first few posts (even I dont have the stamina to read 172 pages!) it seems like this looks at things people save by selling and also vouchers/money off shopping etc...
Here are my thoughts and what I do already maybe someone else can tell me if Im missing anything...
*Already use TCB -will add my earnings from there at some point
*selling on amazon/ebay/carboots
*vouchers- would that count? ie. if I get a freebie voucher can I count the £2 or whatever I wouldve spent as "saved"?
*savings on bills/insurance etc..
*loose change pot
*whoopsied and cheaper shopping to get food bills down- sometimes struggle with impulse shopping tho!
*selling/recycling old mobiles (there are no more left in our house now! and both on SIM only deals as cheapest but no upgrades!)
*getting freebies for stuff I would have needed anyway- mascara, haircuts, chocolate are among those secured this year already! do people then put what they wouldve spent into the savings pot? think this is my mistake...!
I work full time with a fairly long commute so would struggle to do a lot of the surveys etc.. people do but any other ideas much appreciated!
Off to add up what I have saved so far!0 -
hi Deleted_User! Sounds like you've got the idea!!!
There are no rules so to speak, its more like count what you like!
Some people are trying to physically get an account with 11K in it, some are just trying to get the money to use it (I'm a bit of both but it would be lovely to just have an account with 11grand in it!!)
I'm counting things which i do extra (like lots on the list you put) or like if I dont have to pay for parking, or save petrol by not driving somewhere etc. and also any extras from winning, surveys quidco etc. I'm also counting some things which I probably shouldnt count like when my friend re-paid me some money about 3 months after I lent it (because I'd forgotton and got by without it iyswim?) and also expenses reclaimed from work which I havent missed for the month. If i do use vouchers etc though i put what Ive saved off my grocery budget to the challenge (always seem to spend it all though!!)
Hope this helps by giving you my insight!

Evening All,
Hope everyones well and still busy earning/saving
Just a quick update....£200 which has paid off my store card then £150 into the savings account.
Have applied to a few agencies for casual evening/weekend work so will see what come of that, would be nice to make even just an extra £100 per month. Keeping up with DTD shopping at Tesco, Mr T is just too kind :T
Take care all, "speak" soon0 -
