I have been reading different things about soap making and it seems a big initial layout to comply with everything :( i want to make some money this year to clear debts so the soap making will have to be out on the back burner until i can do that and pay upfront for everything i need.

On a different note, i decided that i should unpack some of the boxes i have been avoiding since moving in - they are currently in the garage that has an unused double size garage games room attached above. The place is a mess with a few previous occupants boxes/ trailers/wood/bar etc in the corner. I had a good nose though boxes that were not mine and one has a jar of money in that has big 5 pences in it not normal size little ones. the 5pences are over £30 and just counting the £1 coins is over a £100 and there is loads of other random coins in there which are foreign etc. I phoned my landlord and told him i want to have use of this area since its in my rental agreement and i am paying for it etc and he told me to just get rid of everything but the trailer as thats worth more than 3K:eek: and the snooker table which i didnt even see lol, he will provide a skip if i need one.
    Grocery Challenge - Jan £4.42/£200.00

    Up my income - £124.00/ £11,000.
  • Have I got this right - Make 11K (not including your main wages) in just one year?
  • I think so Bluetree (but I'm a virgin to this challenge too!). I'm gonna see how close to it I can get. I've managed over 400 in the last week by selling stuff on ebay (and I also counted some Christmas money I got though technically I didn't earn that!). I'm worried about where the money will come from once I've sold stuff and made any big savings but people on here have some great ideas. Good luck!

Oh...I gave some family members a lift today and they gave me money towards petrol. I wasn't expecting it at all but I gladly accepted and am counting it towards this challenge - I guess that makes me a chauffer! xx

Thats right BlueTree - it doesnt need to be hard earned actual cash. It can be 'invisible savings' if you wish - for instance reducing your sky package by say £20 a month so you could say you are £240 towards your £11k, changing electricity tariff calculate the actual saving you could save in the period, selling anything on ebay, cashback sites, starting a small sideline, saving loose change etc etc- what it is in a nutshell really is a total of extra cash either in theory or in your bank you have compared to if you were not doing this challenge.
If you read through last years thread it will give you an idea of what others were doing and how some 'dribblers' made fantastic inroads to their 10k.
    Good luck,
    Suzy

hi folks, nikki i will pm again,

Tulip i too looked into selling soap and between the cost and the tests that have to be done (am sure they all have to be tested -pharmaceutically tested each individual recipe) it wasnt worth the hassle - if you look on the internet they say you can get tests done on the net by listing the ingredients but from what i believe they are not what is required by trading standards or worth the paper they are written on. (this is my perception though) why not give your local trading standards and speak directly with them?
has anybody any experience of using silver clay?

I dabble in silver clay, still a beginner though.
