just wondering if someone can tell me what NCT sales are? are they just local sales?
thanks xx
HI, NCT sales are run by the National Childbirth Trust and run all over the country as far as I know. If you look on their website it will tell you where your nearest one is. You have to label all your old baby and childrens things in a very specific way but after that its easy. You take it along leave it with them, volunteers do the selling (or should I say policing, they are a bit crazy!) and you go and collect whats left at the end. You get a cheque in the post about a week later. They take 30% of whatever you sell so not much different to ebay once all theirs and paypal fees come off and no posting!! I would definately recommend them.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660 -
Like so many, I've not been on for a while but as I have updated signature thought I had best post as well
Used £40 of gift vouchers in Co-op, £5 from news of world and employers discount of £6.05 which meant my shopping of £60 cost me £9!!
DH also got a chq for £25 from a survey company so that has gone in the pot too.
Oh just realised I got a refund for some items I never received that they no longer had in stock so another £14.93 to add on.
Latest credit card bill has come and it is almost half what it usually is, and most of it was either petrol  or postage for business or ebay/amazon sales so that is good.
Pity we have had to fork out hundreds for dh cars to be serviced and mot-ed.We do save on road tax and insurance because they are old classics but I wish they didn't have to be done in the same month as it always seems like a really big bill.

Hello!
i hope everyone had a good weekend! OH has lost his ooomph with this challenge and its had a knock-on effect with meI know its my fault because its something i asked him to do for me years ago but it still comes back to bite us in the !!!! every now and then. C'est la vie!
Ive had some more cashback validated for £90 so that was a nice surprise! I didnt get much done in regards to the free listing days with ebay because of the above,so im just plodding along with 99p auctions. Im trying to persuade OH that we should consolidate our loans into one (two small-ish ones) as it would save around £76 pcm but he is being stubborn. Maybe i should make him a cup of tea and then ask him....!0 -
Skint student nurse - I'll have one as well please, I'm parched!
Finally put some more bits on eBay and started writing some reviews on DooYoo and Ciao, I'll see how that goes.
Swagbuck searching has paid off, £5 Amazon voucher is winging its way to me
Also attempted the Tesco shopping trick, where they give you double the difference where something is cheaper at Asda eg Jacobs Creek Shiraz Rose is £8.99 at Tesco but £5 at Asda so they have to give you £7.98 back per bottle (in clubcard vouchers I believe). Hopefully it will work as I ordered 4!0 -
What is this tesco shopping trick? How do you go about doing it?0

Finally, before I went in for my operation on 24th February I changed my email address to my home email so that whilst off work I could post on topics on here. They have only just changed it ! I haven't been able to post on any threads for the whole three weeks
(
February was terrible but March was a good month, I changed my phone tariff and therefore saved £7 per month which each month I will save in a separate account. I then sold my old phone for £58.00. I also saved my old gold for £240 !! so I shall adjust my signature with the amounts I already have and each month for the savings that will go into my savings account monthly.
It was also Gold Cup week here last week in Gloucestershire and I usually have a bet for fun, bit lucrative sometimes :j0 -
There are details here:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3109398
I found it all quite confusing at first, but basically you buy things from Tesco which are more expensive than in ASDA, then use the pricechecker from TESCO. They will check the price of your shopping at TESCO, if it is more expensive than at ASDA (which it obviously will be) they will give you the difference x2!
The idea is to purposely buy thing that are quite a bit more expensive at TESCO than at ASDA so that you get a massive amount refunded (in TESCO vouchers) and therefore in essence get the items really cheap, or in some cases you are effectively paid for getting them! You can use the vouchers received to repeat the process again I believe. Make sure you read the thread carefully and check the prices yourself at asda.co.uk and tesco.co.uk before you commit to buying.
An example is as follows: Jacobs Creek Shiraz Rose is £8.99 at Tesco but £5.00 at Asda. Tesco must therefore, if you purchase this, give you £3.99 x2, so £7.98, effectively making the wine cost £1.01!
Also use TDX-KMAW to get £10 off your first order online if you are ordering online.0 -
