Yay well done Lucylema on your new job :j:j:j:j

I just need to find one now:p

Ooh sixlittleimps what a great job I have always done a little dabbling into the old family history bit. How do you get to do it as a job? You can pm if you like...

Well everyone is doing so well on the challenge that I am still reading the thread but trying to pay the bills from what I make on ebay. Have been for a few interviews and sent off loads of CV's but nothing yet.

  • Ooh sixlittleimps what a great job I have always done a little dabbling into the old family history bit. How do you get to do it as a job?

I've been dabbling in it for ages and found that I have a knack for thinking outside the box - figuring out tangled family situations for example or making research 'leaps' that I can then check and verify in other records. I also like the social history side of things that most stock family histories don't include - stuff like what it was like to be a iron ore miner in Ayrshire or what that particular village square looked like in 1882. I call myself a sleuth because I like taking the pieces and making a life out of it, Sherlock Holmes style. :)

It started out as a hobby but is now at the point where I have experience, designs for the reports I'm making, pro accounts on the genealogy databases and a swishy new website. I'm planning on setting up an offer for all orders in my first month of trading and hopefully that plus promoting in person and online, good word of mouth and google will get me off the ground. :)

Good luck with the job hunt!
