  • scorgeous DONT DO IT!! lol cash for gold was featured in a documentary just last week stating its a total con and best thing is to go to 2 or 3 independent jewellers for the best quote or if you really dont want to do this, hatton garden metals online is best company ( I used them myself last year and got more than double what I was originally quoted by 'scam for gold!') I found hatton/hatten(?) gardens via the mse site and the original forum discussion might still be on here if your type it into the search, good luck :)

I notice that different people are calculating thief savings different.

Some are physically saving the 11k so thier bank will show 11k
And some are trying to male themselves 11k better off buy not spending As much on things they would usually. I.e shopping, utilities, going out.

Personally, I'm going for the 'i want 11k in cash' challenge :)

There isn't a wrong way of doing it really
I'm going to do it like you james, but I will more than likely have to dip into it for us to get through the very lean times we are facing (we have just had yet another financial blow to the household today!) but I want to track how much extra I manage to make and also keep a real time figure running too IYSWIM.

:T:T:T to all the ebay listers. I am in awe of you. I hate it with a vengeance and will resist unless I truly have no other ideas.lol.
LMAO you sound like me jo!!! BUT I am going to HAVE to bite the bullet and go for it as it IS better than car boot sales which I destest with a passion. My plan WAS to list a lot of stuff this weekend and make use of the free listing.....but that car accident took up all my time and knocked me for six so it was the last thing I wanted to do :o

I've got another £10 for my pot today as I've just sold a radley coin purse and keyring for £10. So current standing total is £976.11. I've also posted away a cash for gold envelope which is for £178.50 plus £20 from we promise to, but I will put that in the pot when the cheque actually comes through the mail.
As people have said, don't accept that first cheque at least! Here is the programme that I think sweetnothings is talking about - Rip Off Britain watch it before you accept/cash anything ;)

I also used Hatten Garden Gold. There's a thread on here somewhere. I was very pleased with the price quoted and the speed of the money. I found it to be the best company and I did pop into the local jewellers who couldn't do better.
  • Scrapped my useless old car today, that is £120 in the bank! Don't know why I didn't do it sooner.

Sent off to cash in £100 worth of premium bonds also. I know that technically isn't making money, but as I am using everything I earn to pay off my debts I am counting this. Also listed an old wireless adaptor on eBay, although not holding out for anything as my eBay sales have been non existent.

Not a million miles away from the £1000 mark now, I am starting to get excited!

Thanks to all the posters who have suggested ways to make extra cash and well done all for the money made so far!

Don't think I will be able to keep up with this level of extra income though, a lot of this is one-off stuff.

Thank you to all for your warnings about the cash for gold people, unfortunately I posted the items this morning. Is it too late to get it all back, advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel a right plonker now :o
