Hi Mambury. Hugs for crappy money situation. What did you decide about governors in the end?
Very ropey day for dd but at least she has been calmer this evening. Until then she didn't know what to do with herself and nothing was right for her.
Quick thought for ebayers - do they still look at how many listings you have on and classify you as a business if you have too many on at once. Just a consideration for those listing loads.

  • I really want to do this challenge. So far I've worked 10.5 hours of overtime which should be about £100 after tax next month. I've joined costa bingo so hopefully that'll generate some cash. I've also started signing up to academic knowledge and some survey sites.

My plan for the rest of January is to work more, sell clothes on ebay and look into matched betting. Can anyone tell me what it is and how I go about doing it?

Keep up the good work everyone, it's really inspiring seeing all these little successes adding up!

UhOh, in a bid not to spend a fortune on the OH's birthday cake I have decided to make rocky road cupcakes (idea 'borrowed' from the cash for baking thread) Eep!!

Kind of want to make his birthday cake too but no idea what theme to go for ??? Hmmm.

Watch this, i'll get abuse from OH's family as OH's lil sis is starting up a cupcake business . Oh well.

Hardly money making news but i do have most of the ingredients so it shouldn't cost TOO much.

Skint - lovely cake making guru that you are, where can I buy a decent piping bag? Or am I as well with disposables? I want to make pretty cupcakes (then scoff them all hehe, thank god I have a good metabolism rofl)

nikki - have never used disposables, and stay away from nylon ones - the butter cream oozes out of the seam ugh!. i use a cotton rubberised one about £6. you should be able to get from lakeland, i get mine from the local ironmongers. similar to this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cotton-thermo-size-7-pastry-icing-piping-bag-sugarcraft-/360334906181?pt=Uk_Crafts_Cake_Decorating_MJ&hash=item53e5a25345#ht_500wt_1156. instead of buying those annd you'll need nozzles which can soon add up - what about getting rolling icing £1.37 for a small block out of tesco or you can get packs of Dr oetkar already coloured and using a scone cutter to cover the top, you could scoop a small bit of sponge out and fill it with jam or lemon curd then cover with the coloured icing and stick a sweetie on the top - chocolate sponge filled with shredless marmalade or black cherry jam then covered with the icing and stick malteser/ choc orange segment/after eight on top - his sister wont do them like that i bet!

Well hello all, another newbie to the challenge signing myself up please!

I have read the entire thread  and am feeling very motivated! Well motivated for cash to arrive to me... not ness to do anything about it!

I have been a member of various challenges before so have a good idea what to do, though big thanks for the Costa Bingo info - a mind numbing 12 hours yesterday has resulted in £62.04 profit Woop! Will be tackling Singbingo next I think. This is my favourite way to make money!!! Have also done matched betting etc but need the kick up the !!!! to restart! :o Have also listed 12 items of no value at all to me on ebay tonight so if that sells will be a bonus. Am also going to investigate EBid as I have some other things of slightly better value (I do mean slightly better!) but EBay is flooded at the mo!

Right, my personal rules are that for this challenge I will only count money when it is paid - I am also doing £10 a day and am counting that generally when earnt - so may have differing totals!

Plus, personally I will only count money that is paid into a separate account - however this is not ness going to be savings as I want to pay other things off ASAP. Although if all goes well there should be some savings... eventually!:rotfl:

The longer term goal might be to do some crafting to sell but not sure - I am a teacher so can earn a good hourly rate tutoring, just need to motivate myself to do it... would be far better profit than craft stuff but less fun! (I love the teaching just tutoring is a little draining!)

Ooops - sorry for the waffle, thanks for a lovely thread x:D

EDIT: That total looks dreadful but literally not counting until hits account - there are a couple of things going on I promise!

Not much to add on the money making front but did hand out 20-30 business cards at a kids party today and am expecting at least one order out of it in the next 3 weeks. Glad to see everybody is still positive, right am away to my bed up at 6 this morning to finish a cake so am kinda shattered now, catch you all later in the week and hope those that were ebaying have managed to get everything listed!!!!

Hey Elly! Not just aimed at you lol. Great news on budget front. I always think January is a carp month to start a diet especially such a cold one as this year. You need to nourish yourself gal !! Just maybe not with chocolate crisps wine etc. Do think our bodies need hearty food at this time of year though.
Wow its a bit weird being back on such busy threads again.lol.
It's brilliant that there are so many people with such a buzz.
