Wow, I caused a bit of resentment I see. It's up to you how you choose to live your lives, but nothing beats the independence of leaving home and doing your own thing, whether that's by renting a room in a house share, renting with mates/partner, or even renting your own place.
Living at home is all very comfortable and nice, but the thought of having frantic sex with your parents in the next bedroom was enough alone to pursuaed me to move out!
As it is my parents room and mine are at opposite corners fo the house with no joining walls so i don't worry too much about that.
I hope you and others understand that people like me aren't at home because we can't leave mummy, its because its the best chance we have of buying our own place.
I forgot to mention before my mum doesn't cook for me most fo the time, if anything I cook for my mum more than she cooks for me.
The reality is I have aligned myself to be in an excellent position, its just took time to get there. I could have earned more in my early days and bought sooner but instead chose I lower salary with the idea of progession (started work at 15), now the dividends of that work are paying out as I am on a massively above average salary for my location and will be going straight to a 3 bed semi with a drive maybe even a garage.

It seems many of our holier than thou posters, actually had help from their parents themselves. Not in terms of living with them for extended periods of time, but rather large deposits gifted.
People seem to forget that not everyone gets gifted deposits from parents.

Suppose that would work if you're a couple (although you still can't do it on the sofa in front of x factor on a sunday night). However if you're single, nothing will ruin your chances more than bringing a hottie back to yours after a date for 'coffee', to find your mum and dad still up watching newsnight in the living room.0 -
Naa. Do it on the sofa whilst they are watching.
Paxo might give her the horn.0 -

Financial arguments aside, why don't you just rent a place instead? I'm assuming from your username that you're 26, isn't it about time you moved out and stood on your own 2 feet?
Girls prefer independent men, not boys who live with their parents and rely on mum to cook their tea!
Correct, i'm 26, feel old! Why should I move out though, I would rather live at home for just a bit longer to save 25 years of higher payments. I have already moved out for 4 years of uni, so just making up for lost time
You say that girls prefer independent men, well mine doesn't! She perfers men who arn't struggling to pay the rent and who can treat her. She too is saving up for our house and still lives at home for the same reasons. But she does love my mums cooking too
I get on well with my parents and they give me the freedom I need

Nice to see some sensible thinking here! People are in such a rush to move out these days. Extending living with your parents for even a few more years can make a world of difference to your financial position!
My Dad said not to move out yet because house prices are dropping and said there's no point in losing my deposit due to this. I have worked hard for it! I trust him because although he would probably like me to move out at some point even he admits it's best to stay at home for now
