The christmas gift

  • Sorry I'm a bit late in posting a reply to this thread but have only just read it.
I am so sorry to hear of your own sad childhood Christmas's and can totally understand why you have always created a fairytale Christmas for your children and grandchild but I think the time comes when you have to accept that your children want to say "thank you".
The pleasure of giving is a two way door.
They are showing how much you mean to them and how much they love you and appreciate just what a good mum you have always been and to deny them that oppurtunity would be the same as denying you all the wonderful Christmas's you have created for them.
Letting them know how much you appreciate there actions is probably all they want - then sit back and bask in the knowledge that you have created a warm and loving family that you so yearned for in your childhood.

    Thank you.
Since my post i have thought very hard long and your right
christmas has always brought me much joy and happiness seeing my childrens dreams
and wishes come true and still do. Christmas is about giving so why on earth should i take that away from my daughter when clearly all she wants to do is give me the christmas i never had and to return the happiness and joy to me.

I have got over my childhood but i still have little hiccups along the way and sometimes
it's difficult to see what is right.
    Thank you
  • Hi OP

    sorry late reply....

I am a daughter who loves to spoil my mum. I spoil her because she is the most precious person in the world. I dont do it because I feel sorry for her I do it because I have the means to do it and she really really does deserve it...

Be gracious and accept as that in its self gives so much pleasure.. I love seeing my mums face when I spoil her even when she gives me the ' Oh why do you spend... Keep your money...etc'

Mums are precious and you clearly mean as much to your daughter as my mum means to me.... ENJOY IT :A

ps She is only doing what your taught her ... see this poem I found

    I Learned From You

I learned about love from you,
    Watching your caring ways.
I learned about joy from you
    In fun-filled yesterdays.
    From you I learned forgiving
Of faults both big and small.
I learned what I know about living
From you, as you gave life your all.
The example you set is still with me
    I'd never want any other.
I'm thankful for all that you taught me,
And I'm blessed to call you "Mother."

    Thank you

it's nice to hear it from a ''daughters'' point of view so to speak
i'm starting to understand alot more how my daughter must feel.

I just feel so blessed with my children and all i want to do is show them in many different ways and if accepting a gift is part of that
then i shall accept it with love.

    thank you
