what is the best 0% credit card to buy only 1 expensive item?

Hi, Id like to get a new iphone4 without subscribe a monthly contract with a telephone company (I have one already which is rather cheap). so I was thinking to get a 0% purchase credit card, buy the item and pay back monthly in 10 / 12 months. Is that working? I wouldn't use the credit card for anything else but this purchase, is it still convenient? can anyone suggest me the best credit card to do so? I was thinking Tesco or M&S, but I'm sure there are better ones.

Thank you in advance

What do you mean by better?...Tesco, at 13 months, has the longest 0% period on purchases on the market.

Its me posting before actually reading the post properly, agree tesco credit card one of the best cards on the market..
  • Thank for your quick reply Yorkshireboy and star-fire. I'm new in his kind of things and bit worry when I start to mess around with money.

I actually tried to apply for a virgin card few months ago but I've been rejected. I did a credit report afterward and apparently the problem was that I had a too simple credit history and I wasn't register for voting. I upgraded my bank account from classic to silver, with credit cards and all stuff, and got register for voting. therefore it should be fine now. In fact even though has been rejected, my credit score was very good. so now I'd like to try again, but this time with a better card (I then discovered Virgin card wasn't good for my purpose anyway)

about the 13 months, I know is good, I was just worried that there might be a 'counter-indication' which don't see... but if you say its fine I'll try to go for it.

    thanks

    When did you do this?

If it's since August (when the annual borough audit begins) you may not yet be shown as on the Electoral Roll with the CRAs. It's supposed to be done with the CRAs on 1st December but in practice can take a little longer to filter through.

Probably best to confirm via your credit report that you're now on it before wasting another application.
  • Do not get a credit card from M&S the interest is horrendous..... I have just tried to move my balance from M&S to Virgin (no interest for 16 months) which sounded great ....but as I filled in the form there was a part at the end that stated you HAD to purchase insurance/protection? and if you did not fill that part in you were unable to go futher with the application .....very bad !!!! so I am still looking...................

I was looking at the M&S card the other day don't think I will bother now.

well that was actually in October...

I did a 1 month trial in September with credit expert, so I can't do another search now. my Idea was to wait a while and try again. but if you think is too early I can wait till next year.

    thanks

Why not part with two quid and get a statutory report?

The free trial is a one-off isn't it?
