Although the speed limit is sign posted, there is no sign post for a speed camera. It was late at night and there was no traffic, hence driving at 30mph did not feel as I was driving fast or speeding.

So you accept that the speed limit of 20mph is sign posted, and that you were actually doing 30 mph.

I don't understand how you could come to the conclusion that you were not speeding.

Also in this post you say there was no traffic, but in your OP you say you were driving with the flow of traffic, which suggests that there was a steady flow of vehicles. Either way, I don't see what difference it makes - you broke the speed limit and got caught.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

I am a careful driver and make note of speed cameras and speed limits. This one threw me as it was late at night and I was simply driving with the flow of the traffic.

    So which one was it?

Keeping up with the flow of no traffic.:o

Those cameras look quite obvious to me, but perhaps not at night - where are the 20mph speed limit signs?

There is one in the top image but it's pretty small, you'd be better of going to Google Street View. It's on the lamp post just after the bus stop

Secondly, how much will my car insurance premiums increase as a result of 3 points?
To avoid points and possibly do a course instead you must go to court and present your case to the judge. You might want to hire a solicitor of your own or just use the duty solicitor at the court. Your car insurance will go up but not by much. Try doing some pretend quotes online with and without a speeding conviction and see what happens.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

No, if the course is available you will be offered it when you send the NIP back naming yourself as the driver. It is not an option for the court to impose one.
My insurance didn't go up at all when I was on 3 points.

Two conflicting opinions. I guess I will send it back to them and see what happens. Will let you know the outcome.
