What's a bliddy?0

A useless total pollution of a man/child/dog
Bloody
As in that bliddy dog AGAIN..........
Sorry, me being a bit dumb - I thought it might be a special breed or something like that.
There's a few dog households on my road that tend to sit near the gates all day and bark at people walking past, I didn't know it was something that could be complained about (IMO, kinder than having the dog stuck inside all day). I don't mind them doing it to be honest, it's funny sometimes seeing people jump if they didn't know the dogs are there - I suppose some people could get upset by it though.0 -
Is OP from the North East? Common phrase here:o
OP is Scots and extremely common.
However I own my house and the garden. The bliddy dog and the brats own me.
CCTV goes up first thing Monday morning, I am soooo cross I needed that pointed out to me
This whole "at war with the fooker across the road" is new to me
It isn't a bad thing. For the last 9 years I have been comparing the bliddy dog to the sainted spaniel of lamented memory.
It seems I love this dog tooRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
Incidentally the neighbour subsequently raised a further complaint about the neighbours on the other side of him because he could hear the children practicing the piano................................
Now that shouldn't be allowed.
Dogs barking is natural. (Unless it's unhappy barking of course.) And dogs are nice anyway.
Children practicing piano should be banned by the Geneva Convention.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Direct gov website has some stuff on the legal aspect of dogs barking, but the advice given here is good - contact env. health first, and ask their advice, calmly.
We had a neighbour once who came round threatening to hit DH with a shovel 'cos the dog went woof, once, at 9.30 and he claimed he was trying to sleep...actually the dog barked as the neighbour was continually hanging around our garden snooping. Since the neighbour had gone straight in with agression, I just told him to report it to EH and see what they made of it. The neighbour said he had already done that, which was clearly a fib, since they never called us or wrote. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
the only other things i can think of bar what's already been mentioned -
have you spoke with your neighbour about it? considered a mediator to resolve it? or maybe your neighbour could do with a hobby mmmmmm for example walking a neighbours dog for 30 mins on a quiet day.
we (me and my lab) also leave the door open so the dog can come and go from the garden most of the day.
have you got anyone who could pop round and shut your door/the dog in after she's had a few hours free reign?0 -
Poor dog. If she can't have a little bark when she's pottering round her own garden at her age, it's a shame. I can't see how that can possibly be a problem, it's not as if she's getting out and savaging people, is it? Or barking constantly all night...!
Can't you have a word, OP, with the neighbour you think's the one who complained?
A dog's entitled to bark when people pass her home, surely? That's what dogs do. Certainly I would've thought the neighbour would need to show the barking was excessive or constant to have a valid complaint. But there again, some people would complain about anything.0 -
I have sympathy both to the OP and the neighbour.I had the neighbour from hell a few years back and I in the end had to complain to Enviro health dept about her dog as it was constant barking from where it was shut outside from when her husband went to work at 5.30 am until he arrived home at around 6pm.He I hasten to add knew nothing about this .We put up with it for months and months until finally I snapped and reported it .Enviro health put recording equipment in our house and it automatically switched recording on when it heard the barking of the dog .Within 3 days the recording disc was full:eek:.The council said yes there was indeed a noise problem and issued an Abbatement order(sp).Still the noise continued the council once appeared in the car area directly behind our house at 5am and watched the husband leave at about half 5 and then a few mins later she let the dog out.(the only reason I know this is my then partner use to leave for work at the same sort of time) Bark bark bark for hours. They took her to court in the end and she was fined .Fast forward to now.I have a dog and yes he barks but I am forever apologising to the neighbours as I dont want in disturbing them.Even though they keep saying that they dont hear him.It is a catch 22 situation what you think is reasonable someone else may not.I have no real advise for the OP but thought I would give them an insight to how bad the situation could get if its not resolved.I hope that the OP however gets it sorted amicably:)Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0
