Alliance and leicester accepted me for the 'junior savers' account after refusing an online application for a current account with overdraft, they sent a letter refusing the account I applied for and offering me the other account. The account comes with cheque book, visa electron Debit card and direct debit and standing order facility. My credit rating is very very very poor. You can try them online. Thanks Loneranger. I can only find Young Worker Current Account on their website - is this the one you mean?

Anyway - to date I have been refused by Bank of Scotland & Nat West (on line applications) and now by Nationwide. I went into the branch of Nationwide - spoke to a lovely woman, went through the whole process but the outcome was the same
She said it might be to do with their own credit scoring rather than credit reference search but that doesn't really help me.
I'm going to ring CCCS this afternoon & see if they have any useful advice but I am really panicking now. My DMP is supposed to start at beginning of December but there's no chance of that if I can't open another account.
Thanks for reading more of my moans!

Hello again
This is turning into my "quest for a bank account" diary.
I've been to Barclays today to try to get their Card Cash account. (As suggested by CCCS). I told the woman I had been recommended to go there by CCCS and she looked at me blankly and then said "oh great"
Anyway it turned out I could only apply by post! It takes about a week so I'll have to wait and see!
Fingers & everything else crossed please.

At last some good news. I got a letter from Barclays this evening when I got back from work. It had a cash card in it so I am now the proud owner of a Cash Card Account. It means I will be able to get my salary paid in to the account from December & I will be able to start my DMP with CCCS
I am SO pleased. I've been quite depressed about everything over the last week - I was starting to feel like I would never get things sorted. I was also starting to slip back into old ways
I'm determined that my lightbulb is going back on as from today. (Also got 2 more £2 coins for my collection today - it must be my lucky day!).
Thanks for all the support from here

That's good news! Well done rarele :T
Now I don't want to hear anymore about slipping into old ways! Make sure you report to the 'how much....' there regularly to keep track of everything and enjoy the team spirit!Leason learnt :beer:0 -
Thanks Moozie - I definitely will. I've been avoiding the "how much....?" thread this last week or so - basically it's been "too much!!!"
I am determined to get back on track. My bf wanted to get a take away when he got back from the pub tonight but I'm just about to text him & tell him that I'll cook - save that take away money

You won't be the first or last to avoid the 'how much...' thread when the spending has been high  Just put your mind on it and you can do it! Also, I find posting my high spends, gets me back on the straight road as I am too embarrassed

Congratulations on the bank account Rarele. I was feeling for you as I was reading through the thread as it's truly horrible to sit on one side of a desk asking for something while a stranger judges whether you are suitable or not.
I opted out of shopping around for a fixed mortgage this week and went with my current provider's offer because Nationwide's online affordability calculator had given me £0 offer and I couldn't face the possiblity of going into branches and being refused the mortgage.
You've gone through all those horrible applications and didn't come across as feeling sorry for yourself in your posts. I'm very pleased your thread had a happy ending :j :j
Good luck with the DMP

Thanks Blue

When you are sitting there with people telling you you can't have even the most basic of accounts (just a cashpoint card!) it does start to feel really humiliating. That's why I applied on the internet for some - I'd rather be rejected by email!!
Barclays was the worst - I had to do the whole thing in a very open plan office - the woman sitting next to me was applying for a huge loan  I was trying really hard not to listen. (Hope she doesn't end up on this board!). Anyway I suppose it was worth the embarrassment in the end as I got the account.
