    Which broker was this???

PayDay Financial - the thread is here: clicky-clicky
Using the word 'Broker' I feel has confused you. Its not fee charging and is funded purely by affiliate commission.

Nope - I think you generalising about a situation when you're actually referring to specific instances is what has caused the confusion.

I think it's been said already, but just to highlight that no payday loan company will offer you a loan if your sole income is benefits and you're not in full time employment I'm afraid.

Your best bet is the advice above about applying for a budget or crisis loan from the jobcentre.

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here! :D
  • I'm not interested in having a pop at you like some of the other people, but I do have to agree that your story doesn't add up at all.

If you've got cancer, obviously that is something that is very urgent but I find it VERY hard to believe that the NHS have refused you for treatmeant. What exactly do you need the money for because if it's something that is ongoing, resorting to a payday loan is just going to get you into more trouble. I've only just got out of the horrible spiral that is payday loans... it's just not worth it! Every month I was paying £200 out of my wages, one month it went up to £600 and it just sucks!

Please try and avoid it where you can as it's such a horrid place to be! :( Especially if you ARE ill and you are likely to need that money further down the line.
£100 for Christmas challenge: £3/£100 so far! :o

Isn't that exactly what you are doing?

Yes - maybe I am - but it was just a reply to a general statement of "payday brokers dont charge a fee" - and I wanted to simply point out that they do - or at least some (if not most) of them do.

My reply wasn't just based on that particular post I quoted - there have been several other debates on here regarding loan brokers that end up finding people "payday" loans and charge them reasonable fees to do so - often disguised as "membership" fees.

FWIW, I would avoid dealing with a broker and go straight to the provider - you know who to contact should things go wrong. Also, WRT: "Purple Payday" - it seems the email address on their website just bounces. If they can't get something that simple working, do you really want to trust them with your money?
