  • When someone openly boasts on a public forum about committing benefit fraud, I can see no reason why one shouldn't comment on it.

And where was the comment about the budgeting loan just a snide comment about spending HB instead of giving it to the LL when you dont know about the facts of the £1000 debt you just jump in and conclude that the OP spent it instead of paying the rent, by all means if you beleive that the OP has commited fraud with the budgiting loan (of which there has been no public boast really as you have not asked the circumstances around it) then comment about the budgeting loan not the HB they're two completely different things surely.

Yes I jumped in and concluded and made assumptions...

    so sue me

HB payments these days, btw, only get paid to the landlord direct if the tenant is a persistant non payer.

    You are thinking of LHA.

The OP openly boasts about benefit fraud in another thread.

    What do you mean?

Private renters get their HB and it's up to them to pay it...if they repeatedly 'forget' then the LL can ask for it to be paid to them?

My remark about commiting benefit fraud was based on an earlier post of the OP's.

"Now the problem is i need 300 more.. for rent arrears im currently unemployed at the minute but im getting about 600 a month from benefits and various other sources of income (fixing electronics xboxs etc etc)"

HB is in respect of council houses etc and is paid direct. LHA is for private renters and is paid to the claimant unless they are in arrears etc.

It's all HB. Ask any private renter and they will tell you that it shows as 'HB' on their bank statement.

To be honest though I don't think it's really worth mentioning is it?

Maybe I am just old fashioned and class a benefit that allows you to stay in a home as 'housing benefit';)

I only mentioned it because your point :

    "
HB payments these days, btw, only get paid to the landlord direct if the tenant is a persistant non payer " is incorrect. HB payments as opposed to LHA are always paid direct to the landlord.

As it happens in another thread the Op has mentioned that the arrears are because he is paid less HB than the actual rent and not because he is a persistent non-payer..

That thread was posted up six months ago how do you know if that is still the situation now.
i could understand you being miffed and not wanting to help the OP because of that thread but why not point out the thread rather than jumping into a disscussion that has/had nothing to do with that thread (I am not a mind reader).

Edit:- After reading through the last thread i now understand why the OP is in the debt he is in he PAYED the HB straight to his landlord but then couldnt find the cash to top up the rent so no just spent as posted by others but still not right as it was six months ago and he should have sorted something else out by now back to the subject of can he get help replacing items Probably not judging by my own experiences.
Thanks terryw for pointing that thread out to me.
