Whatever the rights and wrongs of expecting the taxpayer to fund replacement furniture for you, I hope you get something resolved OP. Horrible position to be in...is it worth moving house perhaps? As if these people know where you live and were looking for you, or someone else they expected to be there, likelihood is that they'll just return.

Hi new poster but really wanted to post as this thread annoyed me a bit,

I dont know if this is the op's problem but it could be that you lost your job and did not know how to get housing benefit or it wouldnt be back dated thus leaving your self in a £1000's pound worth of debt dont be so quick to judge it may not be someone ripping the ll off (have an open mind before attacking people and accusations of shafting the system).

When someone openly boasts on a public forum about committing benefit fraud, I can see no reason why one shouldn't comment on it.

Why shouldn't he be judged? If he isn't shafting the system, then I'm sure he can defend himself with the facts.

Should we all wait for him to say "I AM RIPPING OFF THE BENEFIT SYSTEM" before passing comment?

Why the hell should the state pick up the tab if he couldn't be faffed to get contents cover?

I couldn't give a stuff where he stays...the average decent law abiding citizen doesn't have their windows and doors panned in...people looking for me generally use the doorbell
