Sounds lovely and festive at your house Halight
Had a quiet day here, no baking, minimal cooking and watched Home along 1 & 2 with the boys, and wrapped lots of little gifts for nieces and nephews, things like hair clasps, juggling balls and giant balloons - each one individually wrapped - I am dedicated to the cause about 50 in all were wrapped and then I had a giant snooze; kinda snoozed on and off all day, truth be told
My lovely husband is going to Scarborough for the week, back for a day in the middle at some point, then home Saturday and away again Sunday, I am a bitbut also a bit
because his untidiness is driving me nuts, I am a messy pig too, and fighting my own mess is enough at the moment :rotfl: so I shall enjoy the break from that, but I'll miss him.
Need to do some baking now, a friend is taking the boys whilst I am at hospital tomorrow afternoon and my sis is working, so I'll make her some millionaire's shortbread as I know its her favourite, and mine are a bit partial too, and make OH some twinks to take with him.
Hope you are all OK and having a lovely evening.

Evening all
I'm taking a break from typing up my uni assignement. I wish I could type it straight up but it always writes better when I handwrite it first. I've got Strictly on so it's helping!
My soup was lovely and have put leftovers in fridge. I have also made some bread in my BM, so quite a productive day
Have a great evening all

I am still in my nightie & comfy pants
Can't remember the last time I didn't have to go out somewhere and its been lovely! After prepping the dinner this morning I made twinks this with DD then watched Home Alone. Then we had dinner (which was fabulous even if I do say so!) did the DW and then watched Home alone 2 which DD fell asleep before the end of.
I then got a hormonal sweet head on and really wanted pudding so I made this....
Microwave Golden Syrup Sponge Pudding- 100 g self raising flour
- 100 g butter (I used corn oil)
- 100 g sugar
- 30 ml milk
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- few vanilla essence
- grated zest of half a lemon (used a capful of orange essence
- 3 tablespoons of golden syrup
Put the golden syrup in the bottom of a two pint bowl. Spoon the mixture on top. Place in microwave (with a plate on top). Cook for 3.5 minutes on high. Serve with custard or ice cream.
(N.B. if doubling quantitites, cook for 5.5 minutes on high). I doubled up but it took 7 minutes to cook.
I think it was made, cooked and demolished in under 15 minutes lol

ESMF- for years my OH has been seriously depressed at christmas, last year I thought he was making a big effort as I had lost my dad earlier in the year, but he came home from work on Friday and pulled out all the decorations, my sitting room looks like santas grotto..... there is light at the end of the tunnel, took us 15 years mind you! My not-so-kids are amazed, we can all relax now instead of feeling guilty for celebrating!RIP Iain

H/Hester I treated myself to a Kindle in September with my left over holiday spending money .I know it was just under £150.00 but its brilliant and well worth it.I have about 25 books downloaded on it and its very easy to do and takes only seconds to download .Lots of books are free to download as well, which is a bonus. It means that I have lot of 'classic ' books I can take with me when I am away on holiday to read instead of having to carry them all around. Also lots of books can be bought for a fraction of the price and take up a fraction of the space of 'normal' books .I still read library books as well but there are such a lot of things you can get with your kindle .I love it and my DGS think I'm really 'cool' as a Granny to have one. They are easy to read and you can make the print larger if you want to.
I went to the supermarket and bought some fresh fruit and veg and topped up my stock of UHT milk as I had used the last of it.I also traeted myself to a couple of big bars of chocolate which I had really fancied last night ,just to give me a bit of a taste in my mouth. This cold has left me with everything tasting of nothing IYSWIM.
had a nice dinner at my DDs though that was delicious as usual.
I have put a plastic sheet over my windscreen tonight as I hate spraying and scraping ice in the morning and the boys will be back at school tomorrow.Right I'm off to bed .Hope everyone has had a good day
good night God bless all here
