I used to work for Game, they don't do credit notes. You have a 10 day refund and return policy. That is for software and hardware the only exception to that if the returned product has been damaged intentionally, which is pretty hard to prove so we pretty much refunded anything.

You have been fobbed off because in the run up to xmas all returns have a impact on the stock the shop receives. Basically it messes up the ordering system, the store cant resell an security seal broken games console, it has to be returned to Games warehouse who then replace it with a sealed unit. This takes time and in a busy store with more than a couple of returns a week means that the stock isn't there to sell in she store, which means the manager doesn't hit his targets and loses bonuses. If they offer you a "credit note" (which as I've said game don't do!) the books still show as that item being sold, and the opened unit can be returned without affecting sales figures, also it sometimes means the store is alocated more units to sell which in the run up to christmas is a big advantage, you wouldn't believe just how often Game run out of stock in the 12 weeks before xmas.
    (hope that makes sense)

Bypass the store completely and phone the customer services number. You will get MUCH more help there, I promise. Quote the 10 returns guarantee and all should be well. Also you can try returning it to a different branch, the guarantee covers all Games stores.

Updated to your satisfaction?!! Have you ever been on Countdown? Hope I've spelt satisfaction correctly?

I'd certainly stand a better chance of winning countdown - I know the difference between BROUGHT and BOUGHT.

Something which would serve you well to learn...
The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
    It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.
You ask for ADVICE not ADVISE.
