Choice is Peugeot 307 Estate, 57 Plate, 29000 on clock or these:

2007 57 RENAULT SCENIC 1.5 dCi Dynamique 5 Door MPV

  • GOLD
  • Car Data Checked
  • 31,000 Miles
  • Insurance Group 4
  • PRICE - £5,295

Or

2008 08 RENAULT MEGANE 1.6 VVT Dynamique Est 5 Door Estate

  • Pearl black
  • Car Data Checked
  • 25,000 Miles
  • 1 Keeper
  • Insurance Group 5
  • PRICE - £4,995

We've had a bad experience with a Renault before, so a wee bit wary about getting another one, but like these two cars.

Any thoughts?

Is the Scenic the 86bhp 1.5 dCi, or the 106bhp?

The 86bhp version gets 55.4 mpg and emits 135g/km of CO2, the 106 is very similar, 54.3 mpg and 137 for CO2.

Vs the Megane giving just 40.4 mpg and 166 CO2.

So the Megane will cost quite a little more to run.

In terms of reviews, the Scenic gets much better ratings. The car review aggregator, Carbuzz, found average ratings for the Scenic were 7.6, vs 6.9 for the Megane Estate.

Neither - both are French. I'd be looking at Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra, Skoda Octavia, Ford C-Max, Toyota Avensis - all estate versions

Based on parker reviews i would stay away from megane. They seem incredibly unreliable. Cant comment on the scenic but based on that colour you'll probably have to knock a bit off the resale value should u need to get rid of it.

    I would go for pug.

My dads had two senic frist one had a gearbox that keep breaking it was a second hand car.

Second one did 90k over 7 years had from new and nothing failed on it other than usually wear and tear parts expect for the Cam belt snapping but that was dad fault for not getting at changed at the recommended time, he did 7k more than it should have. It was the 1.8 16v Dynamique he liked both cars.

If the 1.5 dCi is the 86bhp you might find it a bit gutless.

Just sold, today, our Scenic, had 95k on the clock without any problems. Best thing is the flexability and comfort. The rear seats are a doddle to remove and then you have loads of space for shifting things. One thing though, do you intend towing? If so check the towing weights of each car.

Got to agree with you. I would have any of these before I got anything French. Not that the French make bad cars they just forgot to put some of them together properly.

i'd definatley go for none of them.

go a year or so older and look for a vauxhall or a ford.
