blocking my partner from !!!!!! sites

my partner uses my computer to look for jobs while i'm at work, he also looks at !!!!!! sites. although i don't mind him looking at these sites if he had his own computer, i don't want him using mine. i've told him this, but he doesn't understand why because he doesn't know much about computers. how do i make another user site for him to use to look for work and how can block him from been able to connect to these sites.

your user account is admin (set it to have a password or change it if he knows it), create him another user account (not admin) then on you account install windows live essentials specifically the family safety bit and activate it for his user area, I am pretty sure that will block them.

as a greater restriction you can set your router to use a different DNS but that would block you from them along with everyone else on the network which wouldnt be as desirable

your right to block him on your computer because one wrong click and you could get a virus and stand the chance of loosing all your data, if he does it on his computer than only his files are at risk.
  • There are quite a few free web blocking sites but I have found this one to be the best: www1(dot)k9webprotection(dot)com (sorry cant post links yet apparently)

    Hope this helps.

If your using wireless internet, you can block out certain sites / words through the router.

It looks like nothing has been changed, and even opening a different type of browser does not cure it.

Wouldn't just telling him to not to look at !!!!!! on your computer stop him. If he still does tell him to get his own computer to look for work.

He obviously knows enough about them to find and use !!!!!! sites. What he doesn't know enough is how to listen to you and do what you ask.

Theres probably more pron on the net then everything else added together so its a complete waste of time attempting to block it. Theres always ways around any block for pron

Your main concern shouldnt be that hes looking at pron (At least in my opinion its not), its that looking at these sites when you dont really know what your doing means he'll almost certainly get your computer infected if he hasnt already

On that note, run a few scans. If its infected then that 'should' be a big enough wake up call for him

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

  • Have you considered the chat you'll have when he gets a "Denied Access" to his favourite big t*ties site?
  • yes, 23n1th he will get his computer when he gets work, but no jobs available around here yet to enable him to afford one. i have told him but he doesn't understand what a virus is, maybe when he does get his own and goes on a computer course he will learn. at the moment he thinks i am psychic because i can tell him his browsing history. thanks to everyone i will try your ideas.

If he really knows nothing about computer then read up on parental filter software as this should cover it. There are always ways of getting around these but hopefully he wont figure it out: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-parental-Filter.htm Software along with his own account with limited function should do.

I'd follow Riks suggestion if you haven't already, provided you have been doing so anyway.
