tried it with sim out (no sim) no joy

put an o2 sim in tried again and said "cannot undo restriction"

Sorry, “Cannot undo restriction” or “Not allowed” means your phone is now hardlocked, as you have used more than 5 codes and 3 sometimes, so the only solution now, is by taking it to a professional unlocker for direct unlocking, as there is no software or cables to unlock your phone. You are able to still use it on it’s original network.

IMEI number should be 15 digits, type in *#06# or you will find it under the battery.

Insert a WRONG sim card, one that doesn’t work in your phone. When it says phone restricted, press ‘undo’. It will ask you for a restriction code, and input the code into the box on the screen.
