been asking around for estimates myself for a com-bi.the system we have the moment is ancient its a Baxi but really old.
so the one we are going for is Ferroli condensing boiler, because we need at least 12litres/min hot water for the house house of our size(3 bed semi)and it has a good rep plus it has a 5yr Warranty.
Think we'll do away with the thermostat on the wall and timer under the stairs and have T.R.V.s on all Rad's and work everything off the boiler.Well use the cupboard the tank is in now has an airing cupboard then.....didn't think about the noise element of the boiler. My next door neighbors is loud has hell:eek:0 -
Ferolli have dropped the 5 year warranty for a while now.0

From personal experience, Worcester-Bosch combis are very good, but over-engineered and overpriced. Parts are expensive, too. Asking around the trade, I was advised to avoid Ferolli and Valiant due to quality and parts issues.
I settled on a large capacity Baxi combi and have had no trouble with it."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -

Personally I wouldn't go that way - all TRV's and no timer or overall thermostat. My view is that, unless you want to condemn yourself to frequent fiddling with radiator valves in order to control things you should have automatic control of the overall heating in the house via the wall 'stat and programmer and, if the heating system design is right [and especially if the wall 'stat is positioned correctly] you shouldn't need TRVs. Our bungalow has both TRVs and a wall 'stat and programmer because I didn't think to specify otherwise when it was built but in practice we have all TRV's on max. except for bedrooms where they are practically always off and everything is run by the overall controls - been fine for 12 years so far.0 -
My landlord is a Gas Safe enginner & has recommended this boiler -Baxi Duo-Tec 40 HE Combi Boiler as it has a high water flow. Im buying a house & have to install complete c/heating system. This boiler won Boiler of the Year in 2008 admittedly. I'll be living on my own in 3 bed hse. Hopefully its the right choice
