It might be worth doing an inventory of stock cupboards and freezer to help work out meals. If you post it here you'll get lots of help!

Try a few of your local Church/School pre-Christmas fairs - most of the ones I take stalls at have lovely, new donated gifts (and some lovely handmade ones) for ridiculously cheap prices. I'm often shocked they're charging so little for something that's obviously taken ages to make.
I'd also suggest saving any nice little bottles you can, as at 9yrs old, she's bound to be fascinated by any kind of pretty looking toiletries, or anything scented. Just decant from your own toiletries and add a nice label and a bow. Something I made years ago that went down very well with my little niece was decorated hair clips. Get some ordinary kirbygrips then wire or glue on bows/beads/feathers etc - anything pretty and glittery. The pound type shops are usually good for card making embellishments.0 -
Make her a hamper of bath treats and such from home bargains/poundland etc
Get some poundland baths kits and a perfume(come in a fancy bottle/box, aren't too bad), a pretty mug, chocs/sweets, some hair accessories(normally 2 packs for 99p/£1), in home bargains sometimes they do very cheap kids nail polish sets or even DVDs. Wrap everything up and put it in a big basket or box(surely you or fam have something suitable lying around?).
I would eat cheap from now until xmas, things like spuds w/beans, rice & veg curry etc. Keep your eye open for a reduced chicken or meat joint that could be good for christmas dinnerLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Ask around family and friends who have older girls, mine are early teens now and I know they ve still got stuff in boxes .The food is priority ,is there any way your bank would give you a temporary overdraft ? Visit the threads on feeding a family for 50p etc.The more you plan the month the more successful it will be for you s .Life is short, smile while you still have teeth

If you are handy sewing you could make a pretty, girly wheat bag, you know the type you heat up in the microwave and use instead of a hot water bottle. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0

I would get her a cheap teddy and make a voucher saying it entitles her to a day out, shopping with X to spend, lunch of her choice and to the pics.0
