Filling drums of home heating oil

I'll have to order some more oil for Christmas, went through 8 inches in 2 weeks:eek:.
LOL we now have a new measurement for oil:rotfl:
I suppose it all depends on whether you have a round or a slim tank, but 8 inches does sound a lot (except to my wife:o).
The past 2 weeks have been bitter here and my boiler has been on overtime too, the oil price is nice and high now as well:eek: I'll have to top up myself too before Santa visits or he may just pass my cold house by:oI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

haha.
I've got a 1100 ltr tank, I just dip it every so often. Anything less than 6 inches and it doesn't work right.0 -
Bought 900L on Monday this week for £440 which, although extortionate, was a lot better than the £477 on offer from one of the previously more competitive suppliers.
Topaz (formerly Shell) btw.0 -
Where in N.Ireland do they deliver tightass?
EDIT: got it

I'm in Belfast, Preta - but I'm sure they deliver all over as they have depots in Cookstown, Tandragee, Stroke City and Ballymena.
Give them a call.

Phoned topaz again today and they've jumped up £10:eek:
Went with my usual supplier Converys in Kilrea. They were the cheapest.0 -

Glad you got sorted ok, especially in view of the forthcoming further cold spell and probable snowfalls.
Market still very volatile at the moment, it seems, and it's hard to know whether to buy now or hold off in the hope of a better price later. Also, if you do buy now, is it better to go for a smaller amount than your usual delivery? Either way, it's a lot to pay for such a necessary commodity. Is it really that long ago that you could get a 900 litre fill for under £100?0 -

I first installed the oil 13 years ago, and as far as I can remember it was 11p/litre back then0
