I think the key is what's done with them. They do pick up a lot of burrs and dead grass etc if used for country walks.

Velcro fastening is popular with parents and schools, who don't like the hassle with laces. ;)

So don't go and play outside with your friends - go and play with your computer/x-box?

You can get much of the grotty fluff & bits out with careful regular use of (say) a needle - I have a country walks type jacket, with a flap held over the zip by "Velcro", its donkey's years old too.

I don't think the lying ape was designed to wear shoes - certainly not for "fashion" purposes.
I still suffer from bent in big toes, caused by parents who were too busy/lazy/poor/wrong priorities.......to get me new shoes regularly.
At his time of year, the ends of my "sandals" would be chopped off in the hope that my toes could grow on past the front edge.
Bare feet or "flip flops"are better I think - it there is not a risk of an "industrial" accident - in which case steel capped wellies might be more suitable:D.

Here is a link for PN, that appears to allow someone needing a care home to evaluate the cost (and probably demonstrates that they cannot afford it!).

Still, looking on the bright side, as a kid I'd sing along to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and it took a good twenty more years to know what it was about and I've never taken LSD.

    "Puff the Magic Dragon" ?

    'Brown Sugar'
    'Pictures of Lily'
    'Marianne With The Shaky Hand'
    'Night of Fear'

    I could go on. :)

OK, many 60s/70s songs were more discrete than viva's examples above. Indeed, some were far too hard for our parents to de-code! :rotfl:

Oh, and PN will be pleased to know that I was wrong about the £7 / hour. It's £6.22, but there are bonuses for hitting targets, which can run to hundreds of £££. ;)

The 330k one is clearly in need of more updating, whereas the most expensive one is liveable.

I hate to disagree, but I think they are all liveable in. In fact, I'd wager a small sum that they are all lived in.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Teenagers get a bad rap sometimes but for the most part the students coming in to the library to study have been a joy.

Teenagers - sometimes, you know, you'd think they were almost human. :)

I know, but when you buy a new home you don't want to put up with other people's bad taste. Your own bad taste is fine.

Interestingly, when we last moved we had opportunity to see the houses all the way down the chain. They all had rooms which others might consider not on-trend, but they all had too much pale blue. So whereas, in EA speak they could all have done with certain rooms updating, the bad taste was too everyone's taste.

I was thinking about the kitchens, and I preferred the white one for £330k to the red one for £375k.

I understand the redecorating, but lots of people would feel the need to renew the bathroom in the £330k house, just because it's avocado.

I find locally spending 50k to bring a house up to designer standard adds 100k to the selling price and achieves a much quicker sale - there are clearly a subset of buyers who put great value on 'move in condition'

We wouldn't have had the vision to see what could be done with our house. The people before us had "done it up" but too cheaply. So we moved in and gradually replaced the cheap stuff with decent stuff. Got a chunk off the price to reflect that they needed to sell quickly and some things were cheaply done, but still probably paid for a done up house.

When we moved this did break the ceiling for the road, but since then others have bought then done up, making the total they've paid well in excess of our price.

Plus, I always say, that land will always have a value and we have "probably the biggest garden in the area" to quote the EA.

Lydia (or anyone else) I found my DD1 (rising 7) watching a fairly unsuitable Rihanna song on youtube (good song tho) and realised I need to put in place internet controls now. Have you investigated the best way to achieve this as your DKs are a little older?

Golden rules, which you move through with age:

    1. ask before viewing
    2. have the computer in a public place
    3. when old enough to have the computer in their own room, the door must be open
