Mine are old enough to have the laptop in their own room...but old habits die hard and they still ask before they go on new sites or before they download anything, suppose that is one handy thing about them being ASD, they follow the routine without fail no matter how old they are.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
You can probably find some software nowadays that enables you to 'see' what's on their PC/laptop screen. If not - it should be made as it wouldn't be rocket science.
I remember about 10 years ago, the IT department fitted some software that did a screenie of everybody's screens every 10 minutes.... and a temp was pulled into the boss' office and was shown his rolling video of screen shots, showing he was surfing the net most of the day and not working.0 -
I know, but when you buy a new home you don't want to put up with other people's bad taste. Your own bad taste is fine.
Interestingly, when we last moved we had opportunity to see the houses all the way down the chain. They all had rooms which others might consider not on-trend, but they all had too much pale blue. So whereas, in EA speak they could all have done with certain rooms updating, the bad taste was too everyone's taste.
We're five years down the line getting rid of the bad taste of the previous residents. If we'd known it would have taken as long as it has there's no way we'd have bought. Though of course the Arsenal room went fairly quickly! Say the previous owners were called Smith (they weren't) we call this the process of "deSmithing" and our family regularly ask us how the "deSmithing" is going. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Teenagers - sometimes, you know, you'd think they were almost human.
You should have seen the look on the faces of the general public when a great big group of very tall black boys wearing hoodies walked into the library. Then sat down as a group and studied GCSE maths. I love it when a stereotype gets thoroughly smashed. You could see the cogs in people's brains working (and I'm not talking about the students here)! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? IT is not the listening to the lyrics that is so much of a problem - more the watching of the vids - and my DD nearly 7 would most certainly not stop to ask before viewing something new - we have used youtube for her to listen to new songs she learns at school.
I had to watch this one a couple of times just to confirm how unsuitable it was:

That means no YouTube, no Facebook, no social networking sites aimed at adults. If children want to look at, how can I put it not adult sites per se but sites designed for an older audience then their parents have to log onto the site and show them.
Personally I hadn't given much thought to song lyrics until relatively recently. I just knew if they had lots of bleeps or words blanked out (generally rap) then they were rude. It's a good 30 years since I had to write down and learn the lyrics to everything! Then I heard the Rihanna song, along with ones by Scherzinger and Gaga. All great songs but crikey I wouldn't want to explain the set of lyrics to an enquiring young mind. Let's see how much get's past the MSE filters:
Rihanna:
The affliction of the feeling leaves me wanting more (Oh oh oh oh oh)
'Cause I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it
Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones may break my bones
But chains and whips excite me
Scherzinger:
Boy, you want my body
Wanna ride it like a Harley
Once or twice around the block
I bet I'll have you saying whoa, whoa!
Gaga:
Let's have some fun,
This beat is sick
I wanna take a ride on your disco stick....
....I'm on a mission,
And it involves some heavy touchin' yeah.
You've indicated your interest,
I'm educated in sex yes.
And now I want it bad,
Want it bad.
Still, looking on the bright side, as a kid I'd sing along to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and it took a good twenty more years to know what it was about and I've never taken LSD.I think....0 -

Interesting.... I use YouTube but have never signed up to use it. When I clicked on the link for the first time ever it has asked me to join up and prove my age as the content may be deemed inappropriate. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? So unsuitable, my workplace doesn't even let me view it :rotfl:
"This website has been deemed inappropriate in a business setting."
But then again, even the lottery website is blocked here, classified as 'gambling'0 -

Cheer your self up, you are still making at least 10 times the world average income:T
Right now, if I had got up at Crack O'Clock, showered, dressed in the right clothes, driven to work I'd have spent about £2.50 in fuel and earnt £21 basic, so £18.50 would be "mine" at this point. Right now in my account I see £14. And I figure I'd rather be £4.50 down than having to get up at Crack O'Clock, sit in uncomfy clothes, in an uncomfy office, surrounded by noisy people... and not being allowed to leave until at least 5pm no matter how loud I wanted to scream.
Yesterday's income worked out as the same as £8/hour for 7 hours (£20k/year) ... and that's just the "easily visible income" - there's other bits and bobs I don't know unless I literally sit and log on to over 100 accounts to check (which of course would be madness). And I get paid in 5 currencies.... so it'd be a full-time job just logging into them and converting. I wait until I randomly get an email that says "You've received funds".0 -

That made me smile because we use the same terminology. Only 2 years into our "de-clarking" (again, not real name)
Garden is 100% de-clarked, house I would say close to 95% de-clarked.
Our first de-clarking act, on day one, was to throw out a gas fire that was praised by the EA as a unique picturesque feature.
something like this, but with fake logs..ugh.0 -
Brilliant Wheezy! I can't begin to tell you how happy I feel knowing there's another member of the club!
The garden is about 60% deSmithed. The remaining work would involve raising one patio (made of the same concrete slabs that council pavements are made of) and replacing with decent flags and pulling up the other patio (which does have decent stones) but isn't laid properly. What we will probably do, due to the incredible amount of effort needed, is wait until the extension is built in a couple of years, pull up the nice stones and re-lay them where the horrible ones are, with extension in the place of the nice stone patio.
The house is about 70% deSmithed. The Barbie room (I'm referring to the shade of pink rather than cute border) is used for storage, so I'm not too worried about that. Once the getting rid of artex on walls is completed we can get rid of the orange carpet and other Herts residents will hear the "Yahoo!!!!!!" being shouted in their homes. This was started ages ago, but the little extension that they built started falling to bits so have had to spend time doing that up instead (and I mean everything - the roof was done wrong, the walls weren't dry lined, the damp proof course put in the wrong place, an interior door was hung instead of an external one...). The bathroom and kitchen were installed by the builders, so can't blame the smiths. Kitchen has been revamped, bathroom is liveable but will be changed as bathroom suite is pale grey and just looks dirty all the time. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
