And has anyone heard of the sort of thing that's going on with this one? It's being sold by Oxford City Council, who want the purchasers to pay their seller's fees.

Maybe the council want to charge the buyer for their solicitors fees?

That house is a prime location in central Oxford. A bit noisy from the bars nearby but it'll be snapped up for student housing. (and it's cheap for where it is..)

Many thanks everyone - I will have to re-read it to see if I can make sense of it.

I have found another entry that makes the most sense if this time 6/52 meant six years ago?!?

Don't worry about me and cancer, I am checking the medical records of my late uncle, in an attempt to find out what killed him.
[Mind you this exercise is making me realise just how dangerous cancer and especially skin cancer can be].

    This is how we go:
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2011/jan/14/mortality-statistics-causes-death-england-wales-2009?commentpage=all#start-of-comments

My best bet is that this identified in the middle of the last decade, polished him off - but lying in bed with all the appearance of a stroke victim due to a secondary brain tumour, he managed to convey "refusal" of a offer to biopsy a sub cutaneous "nodule".

I did not realise that one Malignant Melanoma in 20 is an "albino" one, varying from white to red through pink called "amelanotic". These are difficult to diagnose and grow down wards with "rods" to penetrate the skin quickly.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanoma

    http://dermnetnz.org/lesions/melanoma.html

I reckon that with a "Breslow" of 8mm that was more or less a death sentence, even though the surgeon operated and chopped in out, some 3 years before uncle's death.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breslow%27s_depth

My tumour was amelanotic (but mine was a 1 in 150,000 one, which is why it caused so much trouble in diagnosis), but thankfully there were enough people in my family with a knowledge of Mel that they picked up on it. My old dog used to lick it too and I've heard of several dogs doing this, so if a dog makes a beeline and licks your moles - get them checked out - strangely I haven't put this in my sig on an internet forum - too weird! The same dog found my mum's cancer too. Here's an article on dogs finding cancer:

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/01/060106002944.htm

Breslow 8mm is exceptionally thick, but the thing that gets you is when the !!!!!!s start travelling through your bloodstream, often this happens when the thickness is 8mm because it has gone down through the more protective layers (ie below the epidermis), that's how it gets to the brain and mitoses find other sites. I used to know all this terminology but tbh I've tried to put it out of my mind since and get on with life, missk is probably a better bet. Thankfully mine was only just over 1mm and I have all clear now.

My aunt died of secondary brain tumour and what you have described is certainly not unprecedented.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

    This one is similar:
    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-33168908.html
Not as many but it also went through exactly the same thing a year ago before being withdrawn and relisted.

We also have similar properties on our street ranging between 450 and 370 but in general they start at 450 and sell a few months later once asking gets below 400.

Or what about these? 3 houses, all identical unextended 1960s-70s houses, on the same street. Can anyone see a reason why this one is £370k, this one is £345k and this one is £330k? Just some sellers being more or less serious about selling, or something that makes the more expensive house actually more valuable?

Also, what on earth is going on with the "available - sstc - available - etc" oscillation of this house?

£450k and the kitchen is in a corridor:eek:. Sounds like that's why they keyed your car michaels. Just jealous.

Ouch, just re-read - £495k. That would be worth two blue heads if I wasn't in quick edit!

Have to say I'm with PN on this one - problem with watching live is you miss the best action and it is too far away to see it clearly.

Similarly I find comedy funny or music good independently of whether the person sitting next to me does.

I realise it's not just opinion that's makes us different, it's also genetics playing a large part in some cases, but I honestly feel sorry for you that you don't feel the joy of interaction of seeing something first hand with lots of like minded people.

It's something I enjoy massively, and whilst there may be a few convenience benefits sitting on ones sofa, it is simply incomparable in my eyes.

I hope this doesn't come across as too patronising, its said with an honest interest.

The 330k one is clearly in need of more updating, whereas the most expensive one is liveable.

There was a group of teenagers in the library today, studying economics. They decided to put down their textbooks and talk about the real life example that's playing out in Greece. Very interesting listening to their opinions. Warmed the cockles of my heart it did. Teenagers get a bad rap sometimes but for the most part the students coming in to the library to study have been a joy.

House 1 has the best photographer and is probably more up to date than house 3, but not £40k more modern. House 3 has a part-alpine garden, which isn't family friendly.

Personally I'm amazed none of them appears to have a utility room, despite having integral garages, and a double depth one in the case of the first house.

We are getting ready for the summer holiday reading challenge at the library and will hopefully have one or two library days each week - research has shown that a key difference between successful students and those who struggle is how much they slip back during the holidays so we need to make sure we keep reading every evening rather than just vids.

I find locally spending 50k to bring a house up to designer standard adds 100k to the selling price and achieves a much quicker sale - there are clearly a subset of buyers who put great value on 'move in condition'
