No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I think the forum may have censored your link, GDB.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Isaac is 6 today! I was up quite late on Thursday icing the two chocolate cakes he "needed" to take to school on Friday. I was going to do my normal vanilla-and-strawberry sponge cake, but Isaac announced last night that "white cakes are for babies", so I had to send OH out for cocoa.....
Schools don't half put pressure on parents. It had to be made at home, not shop-bought, and then white cakes are so Upper Nursery, darling, and one's son is in Reception.....
The cakes seem to have gone down a treat, although Isaac himself declined to eat any.
We gave Isaac a lego fire station for his birthday, and this morning OH and I got to drink tea in peace and listen to the radio for an hour, without a single yell. It was great!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Grrrr. Even when I use !!!!!!! the link gets buggahed up by the overzealous forums.

I noticed it first when I started buying lunch at a garage. Week 1 it was a baguette and crisps. By week 8 it was a baguette, crisps, hot pasty, small bar of chocolate and a drink. I'd been adding on things over time.
We never used to have cakes at school/whatever. But I guess it's the add on effect there... over time parents and teachers have all wanted to do "something a little bit more" ... and the Add On Effect came into play.
I bet Isaac's posting in a forum in 20 years time "grr... and now we have to buy and wrap presents for all the kids in the class - and that's on TOP of a cake and having compiled a CD of his favourite songs to be played during the 1 hour PARTEH"0 -
Think yourself lucky. In America, they have clowns at kids school parteh's.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

On the marriage/family boards here I read that some people have limos at their primary school leaving dos. I think we might have watched a film in the afternoon (having spent the morning helping to pack upthe room and clean it) and eaten a piece of cake and been overwhelmed with the excitement of that. A party and a limo would probably have made us explode with excitement.0 -
