On a more cheerful note, our builders have been busy - our jasmine-white-and-delft-china scheme is already being implemented upstairs in our new flat:

Wow! What a transformation! It's unrecognisable. I like it.
Did you decide to move the kitchen, or are you leaving it where it was?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

We wanted to move it, but it was going to cost a fortune, moving pipes, gas, etc. So it's going to be where the current kitchen is.

Some 35 odd years ago, I was on a jury for "conspiracy" - it was really drugs the three defendants thought they were importing from Nigeria, but they got straw not grass and after we found them guilty they got a two year stretch.

It is only after reading about our "Facebook" friend that I realise that no further research is allowed.

We go out the A2Z and worked out where the defendants lived ("Oh my God that is next to Nan's house") and I slunk off to the library to find out what this "conspiracy" law was all about only to find another juror doing the same. [Very dodgy law in those days - you could get more for conspiracy than the maximum sentence for being successful with the crime.]

And this is the "framed" bit of our wall, although the frame's not there yet:

That's going to look great with frames!

Like the industrial light fittings too. Is that kitchen surface with the stuff on in the other pic?

It is a kitchen surface - a massive, cheap island, more suited to a greasy spoon than a home!

This is the "before", from pretty much the same angle

I've not done jury service, and our contact with jurors is very, very limited.

In Isleworth, is it court 2? The room is so tiny that as a solicitor's clerk I could see jurors playing naughts and crosses.

MIL was a juror recently and fell asleep in court! The usher noticed and told the judge who suggested that the evidence was so boring they have frequent breaks.

She said that two of the other jurors were so overbearing they dominated others views. :(

this is actually a bonus if you're being tried for anything complex and difficult to understand.
If possible, my mates always used to go for a trial by jury because they figured they stood a better chance of getting away with things.

It was openly discussed, anybody going to court for anything would always say they hope to be able to get a trial by jury.

...depends on who the tutor is. Could be a real bright spark just starting out in education....

It sounding 'easy' ...is that a good enough reason to do it? If you feel interested in the subject, have the time to attend and ignore the 'dip' tag, then go for it and take it at face value....could be really good but you won't know that until you are halfway into it.
So, if it's rubbish, just leave at that point after giving it a chance.

tut tut...don't be so neg :D There's no reason to be rejected at this point unless massively oversubscribed....and then it'll be a random selection, nor personal to you.
It's an online course, just 6 lessons. So no over-subscribing and no tutor probably.

The rejection is for funding purposes. When people say "funding is available", they never tell you what the criteria is, so you don't know whether you're one that would be or not.

I would be interested in the course, if it's not a numpty piece of sh1te, which you can't tell from a paragraph of blurb on a website. And of course it sounds easy to me, I'm a genius :)
