I recommend it. It cheers one up.
n.b. Not white, and not plain either for everyday: the curry will ruin it. Charity shops always have them. Good idea for appropriate fabric of clothes that die too: napkins.0 -
Sorry DG, another one for you.
MY walls are fully rendered, the architect has not specified any thing in particular but the builder has asked whether he should be using thermal blocks - are there big advantages n terms of U that offset the additional cost?I think....0 -

I've probably only encountered a proper tablecloth in a very small number of indian restaurants I've been in.0 -

remind me of this a month before christmas and tell me where to post to you: I shall give you a couple of nice napkins to use.

I'd be too far uncool to go to a launch party....unless it was for the sugar plum fairy with short legs line in dresses, or the out of date hair style gatherers convention.
I have been feeling some frustration over recent months with my brother, he went out on his own and despite all my advice on ways to get more business, he has ignored it all...unsurprisingly, he has not been getting the work and has had to go back to what he was doing before.
I've advised leafleting drops, getting proper cards made up, advertising in the free paper, putting notices up in the local supermarkets etc, all of which can be done for a very small amount of money (been there and done it with my website), ok, it means more effort and getting out there but the rewards would be worth it.
But no, it was too much hassle, too much extra work but all the time he was complaining about lack of work....arrgghhhhh!
I even offered to take over the marketing for him but that got a decline, he didn't think it needed it, people knew him and would go with him for their journeys.
Now eldest could see the same things as me (chip off the old block) and also offered to take over the marketing, saying that my brother would not have to do anything....he also got a big fat decline.
God knows why I am so different to my brother and sister (she turned down a promotion and the extra money as it was too much responsibility even though she was already doing the job unofficially!) but it really bugs me sometimes.
I totally get the frustration with the above post. Have it with soemone in OH's family......grumbling about not enough work but blanks out any advice on how to bring some in. Also very neg on any internet advertising (the free stuff) so we have given up.
No-one needs to be cool to come to my do....esp I am very very un-cool.:D. In fact I am having a major hair crisis which I haven't got time to resolve pre opening.vivatifosi wrote: »I like Easy Rider. It's cool. Prefer Bullitt though. I love candles too. Can't wait till we are producing our own from the hives.
OMG, just gets better. Candles made from wax from own hives?. I can't wait until I can try that one day, I would be so proud to make my own wax from my own bees. I guess the honey is handy too...do they yield anything else?
I forgot to say Congrats to NDG on the new flat and to DG on finding a house to buy.0 -

They aren't so huge are they? How big are the babies when they hatch?
Bad question but if you boiled one would it taste like a normal hens egg? Do people eat them?
I am being very suburban now but the puppy foxs are out and about and they are so wee and winky and cute. I know they are vermin, but such cute cuddly vermin. They roll around the back garden tumbling and playing.
Mrs Hedhehog also has her baby with her now and I see them late at night.
I miss my badger family from Brighton though....no badgers in my back garden.0 -
They aren't especially huge but they were really heavy
Yes you can eat the eggs, and I'm told that like duck eggs they are rich and good for baking with. I particularly like guinea fowl eggs, which really ARE cool to see, round and extremely tough, easy enough to mistake for stones!
I'll take pictures when (if!) they hatch for you to see. Its new to me this bird (in domestication anyway!) so, we'll see.
Babies ARE cute, and a grown up fox in good health is beautiful.0 -

We've not go to cleaning the ''new'' to us hives yet, (this weekends job) but I keep going out and smelling them, its like nothing on earth. Sweet but also earthy. Almost enough to get interested myself, but this is dh's thing. (oh goodness, typing that made me have to stop go out and sniff again)
From bees you get honey, wax (but AIUI wax and honey comb are expensive because you have to replace with bought foundation wax ...I'm slightly on dodgy terratory here, not 100% sure of my info!). You also get propolis.....its the glue, I'll told you can eat it right out of the hive and its ofcourse uber healthy. You need specialist equipment for pollen. we buy pollen sometimes to have in salads and yoghurt and porridge so longer term we might look into that. right now we're a LONG way away from first honey so its all a bit ''someday, maybe''.:D0 -

I always feel sooo surburban confessing my fondeness for the foxes we have. I know them all by face too *embarrassed*. We have one Mr Fox, 2 Ms Fox and they have 3 babies between them (1 with 2 and the other just 1). All have quite distinct personalities but we did have a wary 'cat' moment recently when dippy Mr Ginger decided to chase one and hiss at her and she held her ground and yelped back at him (as babies were in the vicinity).
None have mange and are all very healthy looking but they do seem to get the odd limp....which then heals up after a while.
Generally, their only predator round here is the car. One of the babies is bound get run over at some point.
Peacocks must grow so quickly as they are huge when adult.
Dumb question...if they hatch from an incubated egg (so don't have a mother to feed them) do you have to do all the feeding from day 1? How do you do it?0
