Sorry to hear your household is being upset by unplanned new arrivals, but hope they turn out to be lovely once you've socialised them, lir.

It's half term. I am going to try to make some progress with my house. Over the weekend I put a first coat of paint on about a third of the utility room walls. I'm planning to finish the first coat today, and put a second coat on the bit that's already dry. Also, I've got another person coming to quote for PV panels tomorrow. I want to fix up another quote or two as well.

Otherwise it will be a quiet half term at home, with some of the kids' friends coming round to play, and a weekend in London staying with friends at the end of it.

Are any of the other nice peeps doing anything in particular for half term - those of you to whom half term is in any way relevant, that is?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Just wondering if the weather could be any worse today. Even the dog won't go outside!

Lovely here! Just about to go out to the seafront.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

The most exciting thing happening to us is a new washing machine being delivered tomorrow!

We did go to Clacton on Saturday though....and we have a wedding reception to go to this Saturday.

May half term, oh how bittersweet that used to be!

By now, I'd have just about recovered from taking up to 75 children away for a week....and celebrating the fact that they had all returned home, more or less in one piece.
However, in the back of my mind there would be the spectre of reports, so in the evenings I'd be jotting down in rough the tricky bit at the end, where one attempts to sum the child up, fairly & honestly, but without giving too much offence.....;)

It would also have been the height of the selling season for our plant business, so today we would have been in a small village in the Mendips, making an honest bob and watching the morris dancers.

As regards the latter, my spy tells me it's not very good there this year, but still probably livelier than our pitch here. :rotfl:

Digger is supposed to be coming tomorrow- hopefully foundations will be excavated and concreted by the end of the week. Kids go stir crazy very quickly at home and not being able to get the bikes out (plus the iffy weather) means they have too much energy to burn which generally eventually ends in tears. Would be nice to have the money to go out a bit more but going out without spending is tricky. We will see cousins on at least 1 day and possibly new baby cousin on another but both are fairly hefty trips so lots of petrol and planning. We also have school friends coming to play which may be more of a challenge that normal without the garden (even 'our bit' will be impossible to access when the foundations are going on).

Summary is though it is only Monday and grown ups already can't wait for school to start back on Tuesday week.

It is also last week of census - only 15 hours to do this week but they feel like a waste of time - I have 3 houses left which are either empty or trying very hard to avoid me so most trips out I don't actually interview anyone.
    I think....

    I've been Money Tipped!
We went to another nursery today. The nice man there said he'd make sure I'm doing cuttings right in August before I attack my yew tree. :) People ARE nice. we bought some foxgloves and came home, with a ''see you in August''. :)
we also went dog walking, in the wet mist and rain.

even in all this rain I went out and forked over some soil, just for the satisfaction of seeing it wet...and i isn't. Even off the decent soil its only wet the very top layer. :( Its just depressing now.

Tuesday week? Don't yours go back on Monday 6th? Or have they got inset or something?

I've been ploughing on with my site moving. Managed to move about 50 basic page layouts/wordings across before I fell asleep (about 3am), woke up this morning, rolled over and there was the mouse, so I picked up where I'd left off.

Having to go through each page now, re-wording it, faffing about, checking it, building data sets ... it's all a long way off completion, but certainly getting there.

Using some nifty plug-ins that perform marvellous feats, but each of those takes a bit of time to install/configure/use/check and tweak. Only one that looks a bit iffy at the moment, which pulls in four filtered and truncated feeds, yet only 1 and 4 appear to be working, with 2 and 3 doing something very bizarre.

It needs more pictures. Pictures are my downfall... where does one get pictures from ... well, free from the Internet - until you actually go looking for one that you think is just right :) There go another few hours.

I also need to look at how the theme's programmed as I need to get in "pre loop" with some code... just bunged the code outside of the loop for now. Main thing is to get fistfuls of pages published ... I can faff later.
