We have 1 extra day because the extra wedding bank holiday was during our Easter Hols
So you didn't get an extra day off because you were already off, so you've got a day off when you would have been in?
So do you get extra days for all the other bank holidays that occured during the holidays - like Easter?
Seems barmy to me - if you were off, then you were off. Why get an extra day to compensate you for being off?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. People ARE nice. we bought some foxgloves and came home, with a ''see you in August''.
we also went dog walking, in the wet mist and rain.
even in all this rain I went out and forked over some soil, just for the satisfaction of seeing it wet...and i isn't. Even off the decent soil its only wet the very top layer. Its just depressing now.
It's probably a good thing. We've just had a month of continuous dry here. If we had enough rain to get past the surface inch, there would be surface water floods all over the place.
We need slow, steady rain.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I just went outside and cracked the spade.
dry clay soil is worse than concrete0 -
Well I guess teachers have to benefit from the extra bank holiday too - presumably the normal ones are already accounted for whether they fall within term time or not.
Unlike me who only works Mondays and Tuesdays so getting no benefit at all from the extra holiday. So you didn't get an extra day off because you were already off, so you've got a day off when you would have been in?

Yes - very stony clay here - will be interesting to see how the digger gets on here tomorrow.I just went outside and cracked the spade.

Mmm....foxgloves....possibly Terry Baker at The Botanic Nursery, who specialises. I've just bought one of he distributes called 'Glory of Roundway,' but the name hints that the original owner was my old mate John Phillips of Roundway, near Devizes....Anyway, if you want foxgloves and you haven't been, Terry at Atworth is your man.

Not sure about yew cuttings. Isn't it only the Golden Yew that is relatively easy? I thought the ordinary one was difficult. Some of mine have been bl00dy hard to keep alive, and they came with roots!0 -
Isaac's school doesn't have half-term this week - which I only realised last Thursday. I thought summer half-term was always the bank holiday week! But no, he had today off, back in the rest of this week, and half-term is next week instead. So we had the weekend at my parents' house, but couldn't stay longer.
Isaac and Dad planted 64 main crop spuds today, and we ate the first of the broad bean crop yesterday for lunch (Dad and Isaac planted that lot in early March)....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

He is ridiculously angelic looking. It's a front, he's not remotely angelic. He's a live wire of non-stop energy.
He does do the, "butter wouldn't melt" thing rather well, though:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Seems to be a loud/drunken party that's just kicked off... saw what looked like 8 teens loaded up with beers heading for the 1-bed flats about 20 minutes ago.... no doubt there'll be the usual screaming slappers shortly.0

Secondary schools are virtually forced to have the standard half term in the Summer term due to the GCSE/AS/A2 exam timetables. Primary schools have more leeway.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
