Yep its the lugging thats the issue. And the thing is with rural theft being what it is now.....oil disappears from tankers (a chum on mse with a generator at the back of her house..I've been there, its a hard place to get too...all was drained dry) making of with cannisters would be a breeze for them and a drama for me.0 -

I do, and it involves a spanner, not a switch, but it only happens about once a year.0 -

The Zionists are out to getcha...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I used to leave the gas fire on low 24/7 when it was really cold outside; the door used to freeze up in the night still.... and I'd get through one big canister every two weeks I think it was.0 -

If there's only one of it, is it a spaghetto? I merely wonder idly as I read this thread before falling asleep.neverdespairgirl wrote: »You can, honestly. When my best mate and I were in Russia, she went to visit a uni friend in Astrakhan, and I went north to Archangel and the Solovetsky Islands. I had a wonderful time.
Yes, but there are things that most of the rest of us can cope with that are very eek for PN. I believe that you had a wonderful time. I also believe that PN probably wouldn't have, under the same circumstances.vivatifosi wrote: »I've seen a big thread on this somewhere Lydia. It may be on the DIY board or it maybe on one of the energy threads. One of the questions is whether something other than photovoltaics will come up soon. Another seems to revolve around if you get your panels free, you are effectively "renting" your roof for 25 years in exchange for the energy, which can affect house sales. That's how I understood it from limited reading anyway. It may be worth doing a search for.
Thanks viva. I'll have a look for it. I'm not going to get the panels for free, anyway. Either I'll borrow the money from my family (at interest, of course, to beat what they get in their savings accounts so they "win" and aren't just doing me a favour), or else I'll invite my parents to invest in such an excellent opportunity. I'll get the reduced bills, because it's my roof, and they can have the feed-in money because they'll have put up the cash, just like the companies do, but without the house selling complications. Since they're both in their 80s, it's unlikely they'll be still around in 25 years, but everything would revert to me if and when they die.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I thought you were from Oldham for some reason I cannot now recollect.
Aye, ah w' born in Oldham. Grew up there but moved to Sheffield for university and have stayed here in the year since graduating.
Sorry if my last post was a bit negative, I've just let things get a bit stale life-wise. Going to sort things out this summer.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

My parents did it last autumn, effectively instead of buying an annuity (although not from pension money) as the tax free return is far in excess of anything they could get on an annuity - obviously your parents are older so they might do better with an annuity on a per annum basis but that would be effectively living on the capital that with the solar scheme will get passed on to you.
I reckon you might be able to save about 25% on your electric bill and of course your parents make an effective 8-10% tax free return as long as the sun shines - April was a very profitable month by all accounts. I believe the rate you get depends when you first install with lower rates from next April so don't wait too long. Thanks viva. I'll have a look for it.
