I've never chosen a kitchen either. My parents had whatever dated thing was in the two houses they've bought, I've always had whatever's in the place I'm living. When I bought my house the kitchen was probably only about 10 years old. It had cupboards and a worktop, that's all I needed. Worktop had a big burn in it and a slit and the cupboard edges were brown, but that's OK.
One 'kitchen' I had in one flatlet I rented about 12 years ago was literally just a sink, Baby belling and a fridge - a toaster and a kettle on top of the fridge. The fridge top was the only workspace.
I guess I've not been exposed to many good kitchens to ever have them enter my field of vision.0 -
Yesterday was glorious, last night was far too hot. Today we have woken to clear blue skies and climbing temperatures again, bit of a pain really as I am doing an Easter Egg hunt shortly and am now having to change from hiding the eggs, to hiding little tokens instead, as the eggs will melt if they go out there!
But then, I am East......0 -

Not that new. My dad used to hide our eggs in the garden when I was little - so that would be 70s. They were still in their complete foil and cardboard wrapping, and he only did it if it wasn't raining, so no worries about creepy crawlies. He didn't hide loads, though, just one decent sized chocolate egg per child, with the names written on the boxes. You had to find yours, and not give away what you'd seen if you found somebody else's before they did.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

My best mate is a history teacher in Reading, and she finds that her Bangladeshi pupils aren't interested at all - they want to leave school ASAP and get a job, not do A levels or anything....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

When it comes to glass, I always think "fingerprints", and that it'll be a nightmare to keep looking mucky....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

It's lovely in central London - blue skies, bit of a breeze, gorgeous!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I never have either, but we're doing it for the first time now for our new flat.
My parents did their kitchen in their London house just after they bought it, when I was 14, so 19 years ago. It still looks very nice indeed, but not quite what we're after.
And they did their house in Kent about 6-7 years ago, after the major structural stuff was done.
My parents' budget was a bit higher than ours, though. I think their Kent kitchen was about £45k. It's a huge room, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Now I am even more envious, not only sea side but also rain - it would be great here to have some rain not just to call things down but more importantly to wash all the cr*p out of the air which is killing us here in the SE.
My parents are only a little E of you PN but have been making a great return on their solar cells over the past few weeks - all tax free, spmehow seems wrong wen they don't need the money.PasturesNew wrote: »Yesterday was mostly sunny, with a couple of hours of "really hot", but by 4pm the rain had caught up ... ever walked the south coast path in shorts and a T shirt in the rain? You look an idiot. Oh I had a plastic mac, but my companion didn't and refused to walk without one, so to keep the peace I handed it over.
Today it's grey/overcast here.

The more money that's available to you, the more you can make/save. All these 'eco homes' that cost virtually nothing to run cost about 2-3x what a similar house would cost without the eco label. Solar panels can generate an income, if you're wealthy enough to be able to afford them.
