I sympathise....our's is minute and we are struggling with it so we have fallen off the MSE bandwagon and got one coming in to cut back trees, bushes and whatnot for flat rate £200.
The plus side is my new salad garden is looking lovely, so lovely I don't want to pick anything as it feels like I am spoiling the plants.
In fact, I am so non MSE at the mo (that All Saints 25% is drawing me like a moth to a flame) ...but I am being strong as it's a NS Month or 12 as I just spent 10k on CAD pattern cutting system.
PIck the salad, they're for eating.
And you'll turnover 10k in a good weekend. Best investment you ever made...0 -
I love where I live - but it could seriously do with being a lot nearer the coast. PN I'm sure I'm not the only one who envies you your lifestyle.PasturesNew wrote: »I have sunburn on my legs.... the shorts had an airing today and I spent ALL day on many fine beaches
Fabulous day to be fannying about doing s0d all at the seasideI think....0 -
We also have the same bonus as PN...my parents live just off the seafront and when we go on the beach for the day, my parents will even walk up with a cup of tea for me!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Anyway, keep forgetting the reason I came to this thread.....
Mum had a fall today, she is ok (hurt her shoulder and has general bruising) but we are all annoyed as we were all available to help but they struggled on together to get mum back on her feet without calling us for help (both me and my brother was 5 minutes away at most up town). It took 20 minutes for dad to manhandle up....which has really beggered him up.
I know they don't want to admit they are getting old but grrr, this could have been serious!
Most annoying is that if I hadn't been held up in the chemist getting youngest's prescription, me and the boys would have already been down there and could have helped...made me feel awful. We made it! And LIR I have been entertaining OH with your student tales and he's quite gripped........to the point he came in earlier and asked if I had been online and had any more stories to tell
Did you speak in French to them in the end?
Nope. I decided not to. They'd talked enough that they might have been a little embarrassed so I thought it a little mean. They are from the part of France I know best so their broad accents helped me a bit but I didn't feel quite ''in the swing'' of it all.
They had a good time out last night but came back very sober and well behaved, had supper and stayed up chatting til midnight. All in all they were nice and THEY were never the problem. I'm not washing up this morning yet:o, I've done so much ruddy washing up this week!0 -
If it helps at all ... people think it's lovely to be living at the seaside, but the nearest beach (or 20) is never the beach you want to go to today. I spend a lot of time travelling 20-40 miles to different beaches. Did about 80 miles yesterday, went on five.0

Even in the town here, there are very few houses on any of the 7 beaches, that'd be close enough to bring a cup of tea to.
Yesterday two lads nearly had a nasty accident, climbing round a crumbling cliff to get onto the beach where I was. It was soft sand and slate and as they were clinging on/moving round it was falling away beneath them - I really thought their chips were up. They obviously thought "she got down there"... yeah, but I'd come from the other end where I'd spent 20 minutes to find a gap in the hedge and an old narrow walkway one footprint wide0 -

Much of my childhood was spent by the sea and it holds little allure as a place to live for me! My hair hates the seaside, the salt in the air drying out skin, the increase in rust on cars etc, the increase costs of property maintenance, the tourism, the dangers....

As I sit here inside on a beautiful day dying of hay fever and trying to work out the practicalities of applying agent orange to the whole of the South East, that sea air sounds mighty attractive.lostinrates wrote: »Much of my childhood was spent by the sea and it holds little allure as a place to live for me!
