DH has arrived home with two jars of yummy things from misskool. chutney and a jelly. They are going to be kept for our festive ham meals (usually boxing day and/or Christmas eve). They look fabulous, and the jelly is simply the most beautiful colour. I love jellies in jars: they always look magical, but homemade ones gifted always seem the most tempting! Thank goodness its not long to wait to try them!

The jelly is good on toast. Sweet with a zing of the chilli.
Hope you like them and have some spares in case the presents are not to your taste :rotfl:

I'll put our on again today, maybe. I'm not sure if I want to know how successful I was in draining the lines down!

We forgot to turn ours off last night but it was mild, so the troughs have been slowly dribbling all night. :o

Anyone know how to keep possums out of the courgette plants? They're driving me mad. They already ate all my peas.

Bloomin' hot over here. 30C today and very sunny.

I know I complain about the cold but it has been so beautiful of late, even though we got hardly any snow the hoar frost on the trees what lasted for two days was great and there is always the option to put on more layers and come inside to get warm - I most dislike those hot sticky summer days when however many clothes you take off (!) you can not get comfortable...
    I think....

I do ok. I cycle in to work so I can have a shower when I get there and spend the day in air conditioning. On the weekend there's the beach or the cinema if it's really hot.

I'm fine with the heat until it hits 40C (I rode almost 200kms in 38C last summer although I drank about 9 litres of water in the process). Once we get to 40C then my body just seems to shut down and I can't do anything at all.

Summer Christmas is weird. In the shopping centres it's all 'Let it Snow' and 'White Christmas' on the muzac and fake snow. Then you have to stand for a minute with the car door open before you can get in just to let the superheated air out!

I'd happily emigrate to a warmer climate, my wife, not so much so. The two things I think I'd miss most are, (1) family, being away from them for long periods of time and (2) being able to cheaply expore europe. I might not always like European interference, but I do appreciate travelling other countries.

Being able to take the family out the beach after work, would be a big plus. It's often too dark and cold to go out in the evening.

A dog, or one of those high pitched sound devices that animals can hear? On second thoughts, I think possums can give dogs kidney problems, so it's probably not such a good idea.
