The only decent room in Snave Hall is DD2s: new carpet, special light reflecting paint, new furniture, new curtains and even a special lampshade.

It was forced on us. Her old MFI carp was destroyed when we left our former house and the 'built in wardrobe' in that room was a vertical piece of 3x3 with a platform on the top, connecting it to the walls in a corner. There was a chrome towel rail screwed under it for the coat hangers and a hairy bit of carpet on the top as well, suggesting that it doubled as a cat's sleeping platform.
But yes, we do get on very well.0 -
I had a really cr4ppy room when I was growing up. There was no CH in the house and I had the north-facing box room on the corner (6'x7'). If I opened the door it took only 2 paces to be at the bed. I had to strip the bed down before getting into bed as there were silverfish crawling around due to the damp.
In the winter the single glazed window froze at least half way up, on the inside.
In the summer I could hear big harvest spiders tapping their way across the polystyrene tiles.
I had the same wallpaper that was there when we moved in, thing was they'd papered round their furniture.
Awful room. No room.
Downstairs wasn't much better, although we had a coal fire in one room.0 -

Someone has to have the box room. With my kids, it took a whole year at uni before DD1 came to the conclusion that she'd not be coming home again. At that point her room went to DD2 who'd been in the box room since birth.
When I first shared a house in London, we gave the best room to the guy who'd never, ever, had a room of his own before. Two of us who'd been only children shared. It was hard for me because the other guy was a slob, and I soon realised he was never going to dust or clean the place. I hoovered and dusted my half of the room and left his, so a dust demarcation line developed in the middle.:rotfl:
Unfortunately, I had to go through his bit to reach my bit.0 -

Hi all,
First off Sue, speedy recovery wishes...:kisses3:
I went to see the fantastic Penguin Cafe Orchestra friday night:

Truly one of the greatest experiences of live music you can experience...:) Arthur Jeffes is very gentlemanly, and also clearly is committed to honouring the music created by his dad. He also is an excellent composer himself.
They had a support band called the Portico Quartet. I found them to be astounding!
