BIG money - and it's the words we type that bring his site up in Google, so we make him number one (although I am careful wtih some things not to!) ... he pockets wonga.
I don't begrudge him it. His website has completely changed the way I shop, indeed, how I live really. A fundamental shift occurred. Years ago, when I earned very little money, I thought that things were inferior if I didn't pay the RRPAnd I'd proudly give overpriced, stupid gifts to my family who could have done with a bit of help. (Sigh) I could have done a lot better for them back then.
We have a choice as to what we offer other people in the way of help here. It might line Martin's pockets but I like the instances where I know I've actually helped an individual save a few thousand pounds in a few posts.
I can't think of the right word for it, I think it's a bit disappointing, maybe, when posters are constantly out for themselves; lowish post counts to membership ratio and all their posts are 'help me this, help me that'. We've all got something to contribute. I think if you take a bit, it's nice to give a bit.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The content here also gets him gigs like the telly work.
However he was on TV long before the site was born.
I come on here and type what I like to people that I - for the most part - like. I also save a lot of money. Some of my biggest savings were £110,000 for me and all of my neighbours getting my council tax rebanded thanks to the stalwarts on the CT thread; £1,500 from endowment misselling thanks to the templates and forum support; $450 on tickets for America thanks to the overseas travel board... They are just three I can think of off the top of my head. You don't get that on Facebook. Not only that, but I don't have to see the nice people's status changing to hear whether you are in a relationship - double bonus;)!
ETA: just read Doozer's post and agree wholeheartedly re the giving back bit. There are a couple of boards where I have a bit of knowledge and help out occasionally though I've gained far more than I've given due to that particularly big win:o. What's also nice - and not financially related - is I've had a couple of PMs re my SIG and melanoma. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

We owe a great deal to this site and board, and to the investment board. I'm talking thousands too. We were still getting almost 7% fixed interest on our house money when others were on diddly-squat, so that made a huge difference to our STR adventure.
However, we wouldn't have had the confidence to sell up in difficult times and go renting, without encouragement from here. We certainly didn't get sany from friends & family. What would've been a pretty scary, isolating situation, was all much more interesting, viewed through the arguments on this board! We knew we were gambling a little with our savings, but we felt that, for once, the odds were very much stacked in our favour.
Armageddon didn't arrive, of course, and no one's dog was eaten, but it was still the best thing we could have done, given the circumstances.0 -
My heart goes out to you and your little girl. Also to your bigger girl, who probably does not get as much attention as she would like. I wish I could wave a magic wand.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

It's a very moving article. Your bravery, and Daisy's courage, give a true perspective to those of us who frequently post about our woes on this board.
Bless you all.0 -

Tis a good article. In the magazine there is a great family photo.
You've got a well cheesy grin Inspector!:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Very good article - a lot of info and easy to understand. I missed the "pseudo" bit when I've read previous articles.
I hope Daisy is OK.

Many thanksWe made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
