You should have gone to O2BTW if you are in a bad mood what about the poor fella in my post above?

I think its my swansong spend. In fact, I think I'm happy it came home with us. In the end I took my mother....who can haggle well...i.e. wear people down. I got the table and a couple of extra bibbity bobs for under a hundred.....the table was priced at £150.
I spent some of the change from the £150 on a coffee for my mother.
edit: table looked bigger in the shop but that's better, it might fit better than I thought.
edit: besides....I need something to be heart warmed about as I sit in the tepid immersion heated bath water....that's what I'll miss....HOT baths. But they aren't that good for one, so even there there is a silverlining in the demise.
When we were first married, I was a postgrad student and we had a flat in the college married accommodation. It had economy 7 electric hot water. There wasn't much of it, and it wasn't very hot. There was no shower.
To have a bath, we put the plug in, ran the hot tap until it ran cold, and then got in. It was more or less warm, and the depth was more or less deep enough if we both got in together and displaced more water.
The bathroom had no window, but a very strong extractor fan that came on whenever the light was on, and couldn't be switched off otherwise. It made the bath water cool very rapidly. We found the only way of keeping the water at a pleasant temperature for more than a few minutes was to have the fan off - and therefore the light off, and only the dim glow from the little light over the mirror. Then after the bath was over we had to leave the light (and therefore fan) on for ages afterwards to prevent condensation.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Nowadays it's very very hard to find a 1-bed place that has a bath. Everything's got so small there's only room for showers these days.
I did miss a bath in my last place. Today I went out onto a beach, I had my trousers rolled up as shorts and was walking in the stream (peering deep into the water), followed by foraging in the high tide line, so the first thing I wanted to do when I got home was give my feet a good washing. That's best done by sitting on the edge of the bath with the plug in. Lovely it was. Nice clean and hot feet.0 -

I am in a really bad mood tonight. I've been trying to change my mobile phone contract with Vodafone. I called them, six times I got a message saying they weren't taking any calls and to e-mail them (yes, seriously, from a phone company). Then phoned their upgrade line which refused to put me through to anyone, including a supervisor because they say I'm still under contract so won't discuss upgrades (I'm not). Then when I went on their website to cancel both my phones because I've had enough and get a PAC code for my mobile, the website wouldn't put my message through - twice :mad::mad::mad:. So I posted on the utilities board and the only reply I've received said Vodafone gets ten times as many complaints as everyone else. Emailing them does work, you get a response within 48 hours. I've been trying to leave for a while and still haven't managed. They always give me a good deal on a shiny phone that I've got to have :rotfl:0 -
Yesterday was the builder's start day. I dropped in on the house last night. There's a big pile of plasterboard in the family room, and loads of insulation board stuff in the garage, along with a collection of the builder's tools. The units in the utility room have begun to be dismantled. (They'll be put back after the wall has been insulated.)
It's so exciting to see it finally happening.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? That's the problem though missk. When I try to e-mail them, spend time typing everything in, it comes up that there's a problem with the website and I need to speak to the administrator. I can't speak to any human in Vodafone because they won't let me, let alone their precious systems administrator! ETA: I'm having to do this through their site because I don't have an e-mail address that says contactusbecausethisistheonlywaytogetthrough@vodafone.com or whatever the link is. Do you have one pretty please? re BFGW I left it on while I wrote (long overdue) Blueys last night. I too am finding it boring. I feel little is being done to challange stereotypes...my own preconceptions included. I feel instead they are being monodimensionally confirmed. And I also feel two very negative things. The first is this programme leaves no possibility in the world they portray for the personal development of our friends here. Who we know to be more than these single dimensional stereotypes. Secondly,I really do not like how things we thin negatively off in children (fake tan, painted baby nails,) are being singled as ''gypsy things'' when I think we'd find that in many, many non gyspy households....its as if any issues about these sort of things are being separated from ''the rest of us''.
That said, interesting moment last night when the Rom girl ''admitted'' to her (Muslim) boss she was a gypsy and feared prejudice. It would be an interesting study in itself the...prejudiced against being prejudiced against another classified minority and indeed the prejudice going each way between all of the people...''them'' ''us''. Its raised more points for mulling on about prejudice than travellers for me I believe.0 -

Having this problem with SOny laptop ATM. Touch tone phone systems are no good for me. I'm out of warrenty but have an email for a senior bod from when I thanked them for fixing last time, so a quick email to him has seen some compromise and they are going to take it away and see what they can do (they previously ''fixed'' this same problem.....twice)0 -

My income is dire, so won't meet affordability these smug agents insist on; I have no job; I have no accountant, so can't produce magical self-employed accounts signed off; I have no guarantor.
6 months rent upfront should get round the lack of guarantor and affordability.
Or write your own accounts and pay an accountant to check and sign them.
Two fold problem, if you can't actually find anything within your price range, location and suitability.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I noticed last night that they seem to be emphasising whether the travellers are romany or irish travellers. Maybe as a result of comments about the criticism.

I feel for you. One possible solution is to change providers at a phone shop. I changed in a Tesco shop and the CA phoned up and got my PAC for me. I think the shops have better access phone numbers than the general public.
Other option is the official vodafone rep that posts on here. Moan loud enough and someone will pop up asking you to PM them.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
