I have an aversion to excel & access, so basically the last 2-3 pages of this thread are pretty much gobbeldigook to me.:o
My colleague (sat not far away from me) is persistently "encouraging" me to get some databases set up.
Regarding the glasses, they put a coating on the lenses to make them more scratch resistant. That has broken down on 1 lense. The only way to fix it is replace the lenses.
I now have to make a decision, just replace the lenses, or go the whole hog & have new frames too.
FWIW I last had new glasses 5 years ago.
Decisions...
DH has to have new frames this yearIt really pushes the price up and he takes HOURS to choose frames...that to me look just like the ones he's always had

It is a funny thing. Personally I agonise for hours over which ones will suit me, fit my face etc. Despite the fact that most of them are very similar.
& the cost is very high. But I balance this with the fact that they are an item I will wear every day, & (hopefully) get VFM from.
Still hurts when I get to the till though...;)
In the current climate, it is a decision I need to make though. & I have to make that decision by next weekend. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I bought two pairs of single vision glasses from Tesco for a total cost of £20 - reading and distance prescriptions. I have major astigmatism, so my lenses are expensive to manufacture - the last pair of varifocals I bought cost over £200. Very kind of Tesco to subsidise my spare specs for me.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

asda were doing a deal of one pair for £59 two for £99 and they included the thinner lenses as well. Great for blind people like me0 -

Can I ask you both how their customer service was, as well as the quality of their work please?:)
I have generally used vision express, as up to now, I have found their customer service to be good. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I couldn't fault Tesco. They tried to get me to pay for thinner more expensive lenses, which I refused. In practice there is nothing wrong with the standard lenses, so that was rather dishonest of them. Apart from that, it was all perfect. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I always used to spend a fortune on glasses (had an optical plan to take the pain though) and would spend an age getting things just right, including the type of lenses bearing in mind the trials and tribulations they would go through from being ripped off my face by a child in an aspergic rage.
Last year though, it was down to the voucher for lenses and NHS frames with no special bits and pieces, it couldn't be put off any longer though as I had not had a new pair for over 5 years (long story but it involves time prior to marriage split up where things were pretty full on with the boys)
It took me about 10 minutes to choose the frames - well the choice was so amazingly big, there was a grand total of 4 frames to chose from at the entry level price, no photochromic lenses, no scratch resistant, no bendy flexible arms but they looked decent enough.
They fell apart just after Christmas and were held together with sellotape until I could find something to repair them properly with.
I also have severe astigmatism in both eyes, it used to be that and very short sighted in one eye but the short sightedness seems to have diminshed to almost nothing. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Work was fine, customer service was good, they adjusted my frames properly, I have a really wonky face. I didn't get my eye test from them because I buy my contact lenses from d&a (who in fact, were absolutely rubbish)
The offer has gone up in price a bit but still worth it (http://www.asda-contactlenses.co.uk/opticians/)0 -
Oh, the report button is changing, but not yet. How droll.
I am not sure there was any need to change it, we all know that despite the posher language, it is still going to be for reporting twuntheads.
Glasses... hmph, specsavers for me, but they do tend to fall apart after three or four years.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

One office of vision express has a blown up photo of my eye on it.
Optician adored my eye ...just the one of the I think and asked for a picture of it for all future advertising etc. It was weird going in their to look myself in the eye when I had a check up last. Sadly that office closed down and I lost touch with the optician, who I used to go for a drink with every now and then, so I don't know where my eye is now.
