Oi you lot, I haven't seen it yet! Been watching Silent Witness instead.....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Where I live now, A&E has a separate part of the waiting area (behind glass) where kids wait. It has toys, and nobody else in there apart from other kids with parents/carers. I don't enjoy waiting there, but it's not that bad. My impression is that private medicine doesn't do much of that kind of emergency stuff. In your situation, wageslave, I'd be investigating whether there are any other hospitals within driving distance whose A&E departments have more suitable waiting arrangements, and also complaining to your local hospital that a partitioned off waiting area for kids would be a comparatively cheap way to make a huge difference.
The best experience I ever had of taking a kid to A&E was when dd was 2 weeks old. Ds (then nearly 3) had picked her up out of her little bouncy chair, not realising that he wasn't supposed to. I shouted "No, don't pick her up" just as he was about to, but it didn't get through to his brain until after he'd got her, so then he was scared and dropped her immediately. She gave one loud cry and then wouldn't wake up - terrifying.
We were living a few miles outside Bristol at the time. Bristol has a children's hospital with its own A&E so I took her there. I pulled up outside and a security bloke came to tell me I couldn't stop there. I wailed something incoherent about "two week old baby - dropped on floor - won't wake up" and he just said "give me the keys" and shoved me into the building before dealing with my car for me. I got through triage faster than a speeding bullet and was in a little consulting room with a real live doctor within seconds of getting out of the car. The doctor said she'd start by looking for external injuries and asked me to take dd's clothes off. As I began to do so.....
.... dd woke up and was absolutely fine in every respect. She had been asleep when it happened, and had just carried right on sleeping. Those of you who are familiar with newborns will remember that if they want to sleep, you can't wake them however hard you try, and that was all that had been going on. Phew.
I was impressed with the excellent care my kids (and I) received in hospital "oop north" after late-nearly-ex's accident, but can't comment on A&E because they were out of there and onto a ward before I arrived, having been driven up there from home by the police.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
It is travellers, Disney version
It honestly just might work
Please tell me you won't change your user name to Esmerelda now.
I hope it does work. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

wageslave: you might not know but aren't those caravans a bit crowded for the size of families they are?
10 minutes on a stepper machine and I'm thumped. I hate being fat and unfit.0 -
Well, I find where I am, the A&R is excellent except for Friday and Saturday evenings and Monday mornings. I wouldn't want to take a kid there at 11pm“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Can't believe I missed this one, it can't have been on hotukdeals. My Salomon powder board is pretty fooked and anyway I'm no longer fit enough to ride that bad boy so this one with a pair of rides and my Burton bindings would be ideal. My son sent me this link, which is well worth a click. http://www.27bslash6.com/f4s.html
Essentially, what happened is that a ski shop gave astonishingly bad service to someone (allegedly, of course), and he generated the following spoof advert for them.
I have kind of decided there are many things much more important than moneylostinrates wrote: »No photo of me. I do have a photo of dh's car upside down though.
Insurance amounts were agreed today, and its all very depressing. I daren't consider what our next insurance premium will be!
We have an OK out of hours service - you call up and get an immediate assessment and assuming it is not an ambulance job you get called back by doctor - normally 10-60 mins and if you insist you then get an appointment at the local non A&E (5 mins) or clinic on site of nearest A&E (10 mins) - actually probably easier than getting a GPs appointment during GP hours. I find the doctor callback especially useful as it is normally enough to calm down DW from worrying about whichever of DDs or DS are a little bit off colour.I think....0 -

I dont agree.
TBH, I am amazed by the poor service you are prepared to settle for.
I pay about 200 quid a month into the NHS, maybe more, I am absolutely certain it isn't less.
So for two hundred quid, I get to to sit with two little girls, one of them ill, both of them wrapped in blankets amongst a bunch of fu ck ing junkies.
I think not
You must be younger than me. I have had steam coming out of my ears ever since
If I have to go private (and I have already accepted I will) I am going to make my MPs life a living hell.
Because I pay him and he deserves itRetail is the only therapy that works0 -
My point is that where I am I don't have to sit among junkies. I sit in a kids area. I'm not suggesting that what you get where you are is OK, but even if they decide to change it, it won't happen instantly.
There's no point in going private, IFAIU, because private hospitals don't have A&E departments.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I phone with a sick child, I want a doctor within the hour.
I sort of figured tht is what was supposed to happen.
I tell you what Lydia, it is what will happen next time one of my girls are ill. I will get a doctor out
I tried NHS24 once, I m seriously not doing that again
I want a doctor at my house. What is wrong with that? I pay for them and god knows, I haven't overburdened the system. I dont phone and demand a quack for eff all
It is an absolute disgrace that I should drag small sick children out in all weathers to see a doctor.

There are many who don't pay taxes, you're subsidising them. Whether they be in a position where they can't work, they don't declare taxes, or they have an offshore arrangement going on.
I as much as anyone have the right to complain about the level of nhs care. It really annoys me that people who contribute so much get sh1te service in return.0
